Curious until Appt

I am new. Kidney disease in family. Curious about stage, going to dr soon but having severe issues after gallbladder/kidney issues. BP was staying at 200/100 daily, (was having allergic reactions to meds). Now, just kidney and BP issues, staying at 140/90 with diuretic.

Having severe pain, nausea, sweats, lethargy, during attack...feeling-like passing out (especially standing)....to start. Itching, loss of appetite, restless leg syndrome, memory/blank. It's bad.

Couple attacks a month where can't get out of bed for days.

Possible Stage 4 or 5?

Hi Vigi,

Welcome to the community! Lots of great and knowledgeable people here who are always around to support.

Sounds like you have quite a bit going on in addition to a family history of kidney issues.

My thoughts are to make an appointment with your PCP if you are feeling unwell.

Your doctor is the best person to make the determination as to what is causing the symptoms that you are describing and initiate a treatment plan; including a referral to a nephrologist if need be.

None of these symptoms should be left unseen as they are restricting your quality of life.

When you call, I would request labs be done prior to your apointment; I would also request a kidney workup which will give you a ball park idea as to how well your kidneys are functioning.

If labs are done prior to your appointment. print them out; check off any areas that flag or you would like explained to you.

In addition to telling the office staff why an immediate appointment is needed, write down all of your symptoms, what they feel like and when they occur and bring it with questions.

If you have a family member to join you at the appointment to scribe for you that would be great as you can full focus on your interaction with your doctor.

Addressing this as soon as possible will put your mind at ease!

Please reach out and let us know what the verdict is.

We care!

Hi Vigi,

We do not diagnose. But as Bet said you need to see your doctor. You say you have an attack. I do not think I have every heard of CKD giving people an onset attack. It usually is more constant symptoms. But your doctor should be able to diagnose especially if you follow what Bet said about preparing.

let us know what you find out.

Welcome to our wonderful kidney community!

I agree with Bet117 and Bassetmommer that you should get an appt with your PCP asap. With CKD you don't really have attacks, this could be something else not related to your kidneys. Your doctor can't help you with these issues unless he knows about them. You should also ask if you could have labs run before your appt.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

Why don’t you email your doctor and request a blood test before the appointment.

I wish you well as you explore your kidney disease state. I would see a nephrologist as soon as possible and get on medications that you can take safely. I understand your fears. I found out that the most important medicine in kidney disease is your DIET! Also the doctor should tell you how much water to drink daily. I went to a dietitian who understands kidney disease and that helped me a lot. We are here to help you, so just keep asking questions. One question you may have is "how much water should I drink?" but the doctor must tell you that because it changes according to your test results and the stage you are in. Be sure to tell your doctor about your pain.

You never say what kind of kidney disease is in your family. Do you know what kind. I'd have to agree with all the others about getting an appointment and lab work done. The only attack I know of that's kidney related would be from PKD a cyst rupture, infection, stone, blockage or just pain from PKD.

Let us know what happens. You're not alone. Blessings
