Just to let you know this is taking place on Tuesday 29th June and will report back once I know the results.
Ultrasound scan: Just to let you know this is... - Kidney Disease
Ultrasound scan
I know the ultrasound can show a lot about your kidneys. I remember for me it led to a kidney biopsy. From the ultrasound they biopsied my bigger healthier looking kidney. Found I had FSGS. So my kidneys were shrinking and basically getting all scarred up inside. Hopefully the ultra sound will help you and your doctor know the reason for your kidney issues. Let us know when you get the results.
Best of luck!
Received info. from my ultra sound scan together with more blood samples. At the moment my nephrologist is an unhappy chappy as am back to stage 4 once again. Am up and down like a yoyo. He has arranged further blood tests so will hopefully get the results pretty soon. All being well he will see me again in 3 months?? Am becoming quite confused right now and wonder if others are having the same experience??
Ya, I think that is pretty common, the up and down yo-yo effect. At least I remember it being that way for me. Let us know what your blood tests show...I know the UK numbers are always a little different than the US?@#
Take care and "hang in there."
Our Quaker Parakeet snuggles nightly in his "Birdybuddy." My understanding is that an ultra-sound is "safer" for those of us with CKD4 than say a CT Scan with contrast. However, I'm not sure what it will reveal. I say this as a patient, not as an expert. My annual check-ups involve two tests: a CT scan without contrast, plus a loopogram. With a loopogram, the tech infuses contrast through my abdominal stoma, takes 6-7 standard X-Rays (slightly different perspectives), then (importantly) removes the contrast. Hence, the contrast is only in my renal area 2 minutes or so. Individuals without kidney disease get their CT scans with a contrast medium administered by IV, which is then metabolized by their bodies. CT scans without contrast are more challenging to read.
Lots of very interesting information MyDixiedude39..Thank you for that. My Buddie is a green budgie with a yellow head and sometimes looks like a barn owl!!!
