How many of you are taking Cymbalta for flank pain from PKD? Anything else working for you if not?

Hi and welcome, I have taken Cymbalta but not for PKD pain. It did not agree with me when I did take it however I know it is used for neuropathy pain. I guess it just depends who you see and what their preferences are. If you search the internet their are very many good articles regarding PKD pain, there are really no great treatment options for the pain. I suffer from flank pain as well as pain around my lower abdomen and lower back. Usually lifting something to heavy makes it much worse but it is always there. I only use Tylenol w/codeine # 3 for pain. I take many other medications for various conditions however I do not like pain medication, makes me feel out of it, out of body. I can deal with the Tylenol with Codeine although it doesn't do a whole lot for the pain, just makes me not so aware of it for a while. I hope the cymbalta works for you. I will being saying prayers for you as I know how frustrating and difficult PKD can be.

I started Cymbalta last October and initially it worked great, quite impressive. But now, 3 months later, it's not as noticeable and back on pain meds. But I also have frequent stones as well (those are what caused initial kidney damage). It's possible the pain may be worse without it, but at least it hasn't caused any problems for me. I usually am too sensitive to medications and have negative reactions/side effects, but none with Cymbalta. It also is supposed to help improve one's mood as well. It's working fine for me, I would suggest just trying it to see how it works for you. We're all so different as individuals, it may very well be a positive and helpful medication for you, and if not, just let your doctor know and discontinue.
