Declining GFR

Just got my 3 month bloodwork and my GFR dropped from 14 to 11. My doctor is waiting for me to tell him it's time to start dialysis. I work full time and I am wondering what the recovery time is when you have the peritoneal port put in? I have my bad days, but so far, I am hanging on.

Hi Cettaroo. I have no answers for you but wanted to welcome you. Lots of people here on dialysis and I am surprised and happy to read some still work and carry on life as usual:)

Hello! I'm currently stage 4-5 (depending on labs) and I'm currently sitting at 15%. I've been told that the perotineal port insertion is a day surgery and it'll take roughly 2 weeks to heal before it can be used. It's best to have it put in between 10-12% and give it the extra time to heal than need a catheter port put in by the heart while in the hospital. I hope this helps and welcome to the forum!
