You Are Not Alone!

Hi All. This is my first time here. Hope to make some friends and help those who feel like there is no hope at all. Know you are not alone. Been there.

My goal/journey is to let people with chronic Kidney disease that there is HOPE. I want to help those who have been denied to be put on the organ transplant list, start an online support group and in any other way I can. The NKF site and hospital sites are good with information, but they make it all sound positive. It is not always a positive situation which is negative in my book. I was rejected by one hospital and now I am in the process for a second opinion at a different hospital. I didn't know you can do that. Medicine has changed a lot and if I can help someone or just let them know they are not alone then I did good. Read my profile. God is keeping me here and I believe this is the journey he wants me to take.

Hi champak045. Thank you for reading my reply. I have to say that I have been blessed NOT to have diabetes with my kidney disease. I see a lot of diabetics at dialysis. I don't know if CKD can be prevented if you have diabetes. I would have to research that. I can say that every organ depends on each other in order to work properly and keep us alive. It's a vicious cycle. It is very hard to stick to a special diet plus do some kind of exercise to stay strong and feel good.

I believe that we all need to support each other in one way or another. I just recently found that there is no support for those of us who were rejected to be put on the transplant list. It takes away all hope of living a long life. That's why I want to help people.

Hi champak045

Yesterday I saw my nephrologist PA and I asked her the question do all diabetics eventually get CKD. Her answer was yes/no. If a diabetic really takes care of themselves and follows diet and exercise there is a chance they will avoid kidney problems, but it is not a guarantee. She said the two medical issues that cause CKD is 1) diabetes and 2) hypertension. Hope that helps.

Thank you!!! You are a true blessing sent by God!!!
