Leg pain from blood pressure drug?

Hi guys. My mum has had very severe lower leg pain for 2 months. This and swollen ankles started after starting amlodipine. Ankles went away when stopped but legs are worse. Does anyone have experience of this? Seems a few others on the web have had similar side effect. GP thinks nerve issue and gave ametriptylene which hasn't helped after a week. Says no point seeing a neurologist until they've tried more things, which so far have been guessing what meds to start or stop.
