"QUTENZA" ... NEW FDA APPROVED APPLICATION FOR THE RELIEF FROM THE PAIN OF NEUROPATHY

Anyone having taken, or considered taking... QUTENZA... It is a PATCH CONTAINING 8% CAPSAICIN, which IS... CHILI PEPPERS!!!!

The PATCH is applied to the area where pain from Neuropathy is found... In my case, both feet... Then the PATCH is WRAPPED WITH A PLASTIC AND YOU SET FOR 1 HOUR. Please review for use due to pain from Neuropathy.

I have undergone the 1st PATCH 1 week ago and the ADDED PAIN FROM THE CHILI PEPPERS WAS...

MAY I SAY... "HORRIBLE & HORRENDOUS"... However the pain subsided after 2 days and I now have an appointment in 3 months for another, my 2d application and 3 months after that a final application. Depending on the help I get from the 3 applications, there would be the possibility of another 3 later.

I can only hope this works and I am relieved of 80-90% of my pain, as that is what the Dr. here in Kansas City has stated... It's NOT A CURE, BUT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RELIEF FROM THE PAIN. I CERTAINLY HOPE SO.

ANYONE ELSE TRIED OR CONSIDERED TRYING THIS NEW FDA APPROVED RELIEF FROM THE PAIN OF NEUROPATHY...

Hello, I'm very interested in the contents of your post. I had peripheral neuropathy nearly two years ago caused by side effects of Citalopram, an anti depressants. I've not heard of this pain patch but have a rub on cream containing capsaicin. Capsaicin is recognised for helping with neuropathy and I'd be interested to know how you get on with the patch when you try it.Chrys

Hi Roadrunner... I did not get on with it well for about 2-3 days... The pain and feet on fire effect was terrible!!!! My Dr says this is because I have several nerve pathways still alive in both feet and the patch's capsaicin effect was continuing to work on those paths. As time goes on, an I go thru the 2d & 3d regimen the pain & feet on fire effect will definitely lighten up and I should be good with it.You can get the patch through an MD or DO here in the USofA.

Thanks for replying and explanation. I agree the burning pain and pins and needles effect was dreadful. I came off the Citalopram, slowly, of course, and the neuropathy disappeared.. However I understand it can come back. Therefore, any new medication like the patch sounds as if it could help. Knowledge is power, so as to speak. I'll check with pharmacist to see if it is available, just in case.Cheers for now.

Hello. I've been using Axsain (0.075%) capsaicin cream for the last few months for the pain caused by diabetic neuropathy. The pain in my feet is sometimes unbearable and, along with very high doses of Gabapentin, the cream seems to help. As I have been slowly increasing the Gabapentin doses, I wasn't sure that the Axsain was helping, so stopped and after I couple of days, I was in agony, so started using it again. When I rub it on my feet, I feel no sensation at all (certainly no burning sensation), but you have to remember to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. It's worth asking your GP if you can try it.
