hi I’ve had TN for 22 years and am troubled by side effects of drugs increasingly as I get older. I have seen a neurosurgeon who has recommended ‘nerve combing ‘ I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had this operation

nerve combing
I didn't have nerve combing but I had MVD on the right side in 2021 and I'll be having it on the left side on June 25th. What is nerve combing?
I guess as you are going ahead with the other side means it has helped. Poor you have TN both sides😔I’ve had pain for 42 years and as I get older I find the tablets more sedating so went for work up at Queens Square for MVD. Unfortunately although my right side showed nerve vessel contact the left didn’t and that’s the side with TN. So the surgeon said I’m not a candidate for MVD. More recently he’s been doing a procedure where they use a tiny ‘comb’ to separate the individual fibres that make up the nerve to stop them touching. It is not as successful as MVD and I can’t decide if it’s worth the risk. I also haven’t come across anyone who’s had it as it’s a new procedure.
