Can I have a tumor for 9 years?

I have dealt with sumptoms for years. When U was little I woke up scared and from there it all seemed to be anxiety. Now I am 21 and life is hard, and it all came back. Symptom that worries me is the smoke smell. I have sinus problems but I doubt its that. I had the smell twice only. I have always had floaters and other vision things. Which eventually got better as I workwd out and stuff. It is all back 9 years later. Do I have a tumor? Can it be there for so many years?

Hi Tania,

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, with your parents’ health issue, going to university etc, and it seems to me that your symptoms are health anxiety.

I recognise a lot of my experience with that in what you describe (keeping a close eye on every niggle and twitch in your body, and worrying that there is something very wrong with you), and so I wonder if this is how your body is dealing with all the stress you are under?

If so counselling or meditation might be helpful (I am not sure whether these are available where you are).

Of course only a doctor can rule out any underlying issue, so to put your mind at rest, it might be worth seeing one anyway.
