CT scan - Cortical hyperdensity in left central gyrus

Hello, I'd really appreciate some help with this. I had a CT scan of my head when I was in hospital a few weeks ago. I was being treated for endocarditis and was due to have a heart valve replaced, and the CT scan was to see if the endocarditis had affected my brain, as it can spread to different parts of the body and/or cause strokes.

I'm looking at the notes about the CT scan from the hospital and they say 'No acute ischemia. Non-specific shallow cortical hyperdensity in left central gyrus.'

I wasn't made aware of this at the time. I was being prepared for open heart surgery and they probably didn't want to give me anything extra to worry about - if it is something to worry about, that is!

I'll ask my GP about it when I see her, but if anyone here is familiar with those terms I'd be really grateful for some information. I've tried to research it online, and it looks like 'hyperdensity' indicates a problem or damage, but I didn't get much further because I can't find any reference to the left central gyrus, only the precentral and postcentral ones.

I'm forgetful, emotional, a bit clumsy and struggle sometimes with finding the right words, but understand these things could be simply the impact of the illness, stress and the operation.

I'd be so grateful for some information about this.

Best wishes,

Cathy
