Hi Im 24 weeks pregnant. I just had a small piece from a toffee Apple but then checked on google and it has warnings to stay away from toffee apples due to the risks of listeria. Has anyone eaten these and been okay? I’m worried. These were kept in the fridge before I ate.

Ate toffee apple while pregnant. Help
If it was only a small piece I wouldn't worry too much, if you're very worried call your midwife and see what she recommends.
I think that’s only in the event of homemade ones as if they’ve been sitting out on a counter for a while bacteria can multiply, also in America they use soft caramel rather than that glossy toffee shell we have over here, so soft caramel that’s homemade would also be a bigger risk, shop bought ones should be fine, it’s literally butter, sugar and an apple, so nothing sinister, just make sure you’re refrigerating them x
Thank you so much for your reply I feel a lot more reassured and they were refrigerated so hopefully I’m ok. Too much over thinking!
I mean if you’re really craving one that bad and want to be totally safe, buy some wethers toffees and a few apples and eat them side by side, no risk of listeria there😉 life hacks! , but half of these food cautions are for America, their food quality is shocking over there so don’t scare yourself, go by the NHS website nothing else xx
I would not worry too much. When I was pregnant with my first, I looked strictly what I ate. With second, I craved prawn cocktail, and had it time after time.
