What are everyone’s views on working while pregnant? would you continue at reduced hours or stay home altogether?

Is this in normal situation or because of covid?

Let’s go with covid, with the added fact that I work in a care home

Ok well if it was me I couldn’t afford not to work so would have to and just make sure I took extra precautions. Also work should support and help protect you also

Thank you, what kind of support should I ask for, I wouldn’t really be sure what to say?

I worked full time through my entire pregnancy, pre-covid and was fine. Companies have to do a risk assessment for you and give you time of for your appointments.

Most workplaces now have a covid policy now, so if you're at work they would do your risk assessment for your pregnancy including covid risk. You'll need to dial with them about managing the risk. Look up maternity action for advice as to what your employer has to provide you.

If you just cut your hours you would get less pay and if you quit work entirely you wouldn't be entitled to statutory maternity pay or maternity allowance. So I would make sure you found out all your rights and access to benefits before you make your decision.

Okay I’m just a bit scared, because last time I was pregnant I was in so much pain everyday, and could barely walk for a few minutes, and I’m on my feet all day at work moving people around, I don’t want to stop working but I don’t want to make the pain worse

Would it not be more sensible to see how you get on and if needs be your doctor would sign you off? Along with making sure your employers do a risk assessment. Like the others say if you reduce your hours or stop work it may effect your mat pay

From your previous post, the first thing you'll need to do is confirm if you're pregnant.

If you're pregnant and in that much pain you can't walk you should speak to your midwife or GP ASAP it's unusual to be in so much pain on your first trimester, tiredness, sickness and a bit of cramping is normal but to not be able to walk because of pain is not right.

I’m having the exact same pains as last time but that’s why I think it’s that

You would still need to do a pregnancy test to confirm otherwise this is all just speculation. You could have pains for a number of reasons and at this early (ie you've only just had sex during ovulation) you should be contacting your GP if you're in so much pain you can't walk. If its so early you've not even missed a period there should be absolutely no reason for a pregnancy at this early a stage to cause you any pain and it could be a number of other things which would need investigating.
