Advice of stopping cyclogest please

Hi everyone. Can someone please give me advice on stopping cyclogest. I have been on loads of medication. I've used lubion injections twice per day, cyclogest pessaries twice per day, lentogest every third day and progynova tablets 4 per day. I spoke to my clinic who told me to stop taking them at 9 weeks. But I was sure I wasnt absorbing progestrone properly so I decided to continue to 12 week scan. My clinic discharged me. Then I had my 12 week scan (thank God the baby was well but a horrible experience with the midwife). The midwife was very rude and unhelpful and didn't want to give me any advice on stopping medication. Anyway, she reluctantly listened to me and then said she'd ask the consultant. She came back into the room 2 second later and said I should stay on cyclogest until week 16.

I'm now 14+5 today and I'm only taking one evening cyclogest pessarie. I'm desperate to come off now. I'm feeling sure I dont need it anymore and my boobs are growing to an alarming rate which I think is because of all the extra progestrone I've used. But I'm also extremely worried about the baby not getting enough progestrone.

Any advice about this?

My clinic had me on cyclogest 400mg morning and evening up until 12 weeks. At my 12 week appointment my doctor advised me to continue with cyclogest 400mg in the evening for a further 3 weeks but that was due to a subchronic hematoma to aid in the treatment of that.

Hello I went cold turkey at 12 weeks I was on a similar amount of progesterone. My clinic told me that the placenta would definitely have taken over at that point. I’ve had no adverse symptoms and my scan was actually at 13w4d so the baby was fine more than a week after. Hope you get some answers! Xx

Was just about to write almost an identical post! I was on cyclogest and lubion and also went cold turkey at 12 weeks and everything was fine. The sonographer showed me the blood flow between baby and placenta so you really don’t need it by that point. I’m also fine and 16+5 now xxx

I was told to go cold turkey at 12 weeks and all was fine. It’s scary but the placenta would of taken over by now xx

I'm planning on stopping mine thursday after my 12 week scan at 12+1. I'll double check with my consultant tho as I have an extra week supply, but I'd rather save them for next time as we paid a lot of money for them. Apparently the placenta takes over at 11 or 12 weeks anyway. I've heard a lots of peoole stop at 10 weeks so try not to worry. I dont think a lot of midwives are up to date on IVF treatment tbh xx

I was told to stop dead at 12 weeks but that it is understandable to worry about this so it's ok to go to one a day or whatever. I did a few days over 12 and then stopped. My boobs haven't changed at all yet which freaks me out! I've no idea whether that could be the cause of yours growing. My IVF clinic have been pretty good at getting back to me about medication. Defo the midwives haven't known anything about it, neither my GP. Good luck!

I use progesterone pesseries 400 mic to support my pregnancy. If you are ivf you need to ask the ivf clinic they would give you the best answer. I was told to stop after 14 weeks. It depends on your situation how the lining of the womb is developing and how the placenta is supporting the baby. I think after scan they should decide to stop or not. Some people have the pesseries for long term.
