My little one sleep in day nicely. I know newborn need 15/16 hours sleep. But at night she doesn’t settle till 2am in the morning. Sometimes she does have good night sleep but more often awake at night and sleep in day. Any tip that can help me.

Hi it’s been a long time since I’ve had a baby but through the day try to stimulate your baby keeping her up a little longer, babies do need lots of sleep. My first baby used to be a light sleeper at night and didn’t settle well where as my second was fab just used to wake for feeds and straight back down.

Swaddling used to help.

Yh I do try at day time to stimulate. One day she is really good just wake up for feed and next day she won’t sleep.

Sounds like your little one is a night owler and might have her days and nights mixed up ! What times her last feed before you put her to bed ? My little girl was like this and I used to let her nap in chair in the day and at night I would bath her before her last bottle feed she used to be on 2,6, 10 hour feeds so I would bath her at 8:30pm then baby massage in bedroom and her bottle ready for after (10pm) then into her crib and then when she woke at 2am keep all lights down in room no talking and wind change and back in to crib . It’s a bit trial and error really as they go through the growth spurts every couple of weeks so messes with routine. I hope she settles soon . Xx

If you're breast feeding, avoid caffeine in evening as caffeine does go into breast milk.

Keep lights and sounds down in evening and don't allow visitors after 7pm. It may take time but your baby will learn soon.

Also make sure she's not hot or cold at night as that disrupts sleep x

Yh I am breastfeeding. Yh I don’t have coffee. Have to work on light and sound haven’t done yet. Thank you xxxxxx

Caffeine doesn't have that much of an effect on breast milk. You can have a while pot of coffee a day before it will have any effect on your milk. It's old information that what we eat/ drink has that much effect, new research shows this xx

Be patient! 12 days the poor baby is still in shock. What you can do is keep lights on and normal sounds during the day maybe leave tv on in the background whereas dark and quiet at night. But it takes time to get them in s routine so be patient.

Hey darling congrats on your new born. Enjoy your little one as much as you can. Time will fly , I know that now is difficult to believe it as your nights seems to be a luxury of the past.

My LO has past the 8 months mark and I pray to have 4 hrs straight, but she wakes up every 1.30 - 2 hrs for a feed for a cuddle cause she is too warm or too cold..... as everyone said try to sleep during the day when she sleeps.

Some babies sleep longer with a full belly try expressing some milk or formula to give to her before going to sleep.

Again congrats and enjoy this time

She is demand breastfeeding haven’t introduce bottle. But Yh trying to take nap in day works better.

As above said, baby doesn't yet know day and night, you can help them by keeping daytime lighter and noisier, and night time dark and quiet.

Please don't try and keep baby awake during the day to get them to sleep longer at night, it doesn't work and will just make it harder to settle baby at bedtime as they will be over tired. Stick to a bedtime routine, so we do nappy change, into pyjamas, and into bed, we don't bath our baby every day and find he gets really excited in the bath so it isn't good for bed time! But each child is different.

Breast fed babies shouldn't go any longer than 2 hours between feeds at this age, with one 5 hour stretch over night, this is because breast milk is digested really easily and they risk their blood sugar levels dropping if they go longer, which can increase the risk of SIDS. At this age your babies tummy is tiny, so being up every hour to feed is also totally normal.

If you are on Facebook I would recommend joining the group The Cleavage Club: Breastfeeding Support Group, it is run by an IBCLC and the advice given is heavily monitored by the admins and miss who are trained specialists in breastfeeding and give solid, research backed advice.
