38 weeks baby head yet not engaged

Hi ladies!

I am 38 weeks today and went to see the mid wife. She told me that my baby's head is suppose to be engaged by 38 weeks since i am first time mom; therefore she prescribed me to consult gynaecology at headquarter tomorrow. So it's necessary to engage the baby head by 38 weeks or why not by 40 weeks? Does anyone ever experienced like this? ?

I've not had my baby yet but I was advised by my midwife to sit in certain ways to encourage the baby to get into a good position. So basically she said to lean forward with my legs parted. She also suggested when I watch TV I sit on the floor on my knees and lean on a chair. All slightly odd but you could try that to encourage your baby to get into best position.

You've got a few weeks yet so don't worry. Just avoid sitting in positions where you're leaning back and keep a bit active.

Thank hun, your replies means alot to me. Here nobody suggest me anything though but i preferably sit on the floor most of time while watching tv which is comfortable to me as well. But i am pretty nervous when she told me that my baby's head is not yet engaged.

I've been reading books to prepare for labour and it's really encouraging. It said that the baby might not get into position until the last minute. Don't let it stress you out. You have time yet! The book also said to keep moving once you are in labour, which will help baby engage. Fingers crossed for you.

I had my baby in June (first time mum) and her head was engaged only at the appointment on my due date and yet I had the baby after only 5 days. Though my midwife encouraged me to walk a lot and using a bouncy ball.. I also used to play just dance a lot haha

Good luck!

Thanks and glad to heard that it happened with you guys also. I just hope that mine could be also same(head engage at the end). Usually other than dancing and playing bouncy ball i do all the household chores by myself to keep active throughout the day.

Anyway good luck for the motherhood life ahead.😊

I had a bleed a day after my due date and was induced - at that point the head still wasn't engaged. However, they still induced me as normal and Labour progressed fine. Once I was having contractions the head came down. I did end up with forceps due to completely unrelated concerns about his heart rate, and they did find at that point his head was leaning to the side a little. I wonder if this was why it stayed a little high. They said I was pushing well and would have been able to push him out if they hadn't of had to get a move on to get him out xx
