Anxious mommy

Lately I have been feeling very anxious til the point of getting sad for no reason.Im only 19weeks what can i do? I have three other kids and don't wanna neglect them.

anxious in what way? what is it specifically that has you feeling this way?

I guess it came from the fear of not being able too breathe and it caused me too panic and now I just always feel that anxious feeling.Its been 13 years since I had a baby and I thinks it's finally hitting me I guess.

Hi

I am 17 weeks pregnant with twin and I had a terrible time at the start of my pregnancy, feeling anxious all the time, crying for no reason etc. I went to the doctor who told me to give myself a break and realise its your hormones going absolutely crazy! Its a horrible feeling and I feel for you! I would say that it will ease and just to 'give yourself a break' and not be too hard on yourself, of course your still being an excellent mummy to you other children...just breath and take time for you!

ah ok its just I was unsure if you were anxious because of the birth or anxious something will go wrong, there are so many different reasons so I didn't no how best to give advice without getting it wrong, 13 years is indeed along time so it probably feels all new to you again, I do understand this to a certain extent as my youngest child is 6 and im currently expecting my third and feels like its all new and like I have never been through it before, just take each day as it comes try your best to relax, maybe take up a new hobby to keep your brain busy, I doubt your being any less of a good mum to your other children, your hormones are all over the place and your feelings are normal , if you want to chat you no where I am, can always message me

Hi Mommy32 :-) feeling anxious and emotional during pregnancy is perfectly normal as you know. We all experience it!

However the symptoms you have described in reply to hspread are classic panic attack symptoms. A lot of people experience panic attacks at some point in their life so please try not to worry or over think it! You are bound to be feeling worried about how you will manage to cope with another child to look after. I have just had my fourth and I worried a lot about how I would manage to make time for everyone. However my wee boy is 5 weeks now and none of what I worried about has come true ;-) We have all adapted to the new arrival and help each other to make sure everything is done :-)

If you find that the panic attacks are getting worse it would be worth speaking to your midwife or GP who can put you in touch with local help and support. There are lots of techniques that help, I promise :-)

The problem is that you end up worrying about having another panic attack and this worry ends up causing another one! I know I have been there!! And it IS very scary :-( When you get over anxious the body releases adrenalin so you can fight or flight, this causes your heart to race and a feeling of breathlessness. You then breathe faster and the oxygen levels in your bloodstream become unbalanced :-( and you may feel light headed etc... you then panic that you can't breathe. And so it goes on..... constant cycle of anxiety and panic!

There are breathing exercises that help when you are feeling anxious, alongside other things. SO if you find it is getting worse go get some advice ;-) You becomes fixated on breathing etc etc when actually you need to figure out what it is that is worrying you in the first place and speak to people (as you are doing :-) ) and you will find that you are not alone in thinking/worrying/feeling like you do! You will cope perfectly once new baby arrives!

The sadness you feel is probably normal, but if you feel that you can't motivate yourself to get everyday stuff done for longer than a few days then maybe speak to midwife or GP as about this as well.

We all have days when we just feel too emotional, lethargic and unmotivated to do anything (and that IS ok ;-)) cleaning, cooking, shopping etc can all wait but as I said, if this is for prolonged periods then speaking to someone will help. These hormones are awful, really AWFUL sometimes and it can be hard to get going again.

Try and focus on how well you have done in the past, and look forward with this attitiude. All will be well in the end ;-) stay positive! And good luck x

Thank you so much I really am glad too know that I am not alone and that I'm not going crazy.Your words have really touched me this morning and I am finally taking it one day at a time.And so far I'm doing well so thank you again silverchimpers!!! And congratulations on your new baby!!!

I'm nearly 7 weeks pregnant and suffered with anxiety a few years ago. I've had to halve my antidepressants in the hope to come off them asap but as well as being rather moody my anxiety is going way out of control. I can't get an appointment with the antenatal GP until next Friday and the midwife said they're unable to do anything.

My heart pounds and I get scared when I think about leaving the house, or if I can't sleep or do any housework. It's a horrible feeling. I only moved out of my parents house 8 weeks ago too so when my partner is at work I'm completely alone. (Their was 8 of us and over 30 pets at my parents house so I was never alone). On Tuesday I needed some carrots but just couldn't bring myself to leave the house so had to ask my mum to come over after the school run to take me. It's not even a minute walk across the road from my flat but I just couldn't do it on my own 😢

I really hope your symptoms improve soon. Have you spoken to your doctor? I'm going too next Friday and I am seeing my midwife again on the 31st so hopefully between them they can help.

A friend has also given me some baby safe essential oils to try so hoping they'll help a little too when I try them tomorrow.

Thank u and yes I have spoke with my doctor.He wanted me on antidepressants but I wanted too try another route before taking meds.So on the 25 I will be going too speak with a therapist.And thank you for sharing hope everything works out for u and the little one

I've been told to change antidepressants but I'd rather come off them completely.

They said they can refer me to the mental health team but theirs limited spaces.

Yes I'm praying everything works out just by me talking and sharing my fears and thoughts have helped me also.and I hope u can wing yourself off your meds soon and be happy.thanks I'm just a chAt away if u need too talk!!!
