Afternoon lovelies. Need some help. I'm currently 28+3 weeks pregnant and since last night I've had horrendous indigestion!! Obviously being pregnant I need to eat but do any of you have any tips on what that should be? Never had it before so not sure how to deal with it!! Xx

I generally suffer from indigestion before being pregnant, the only way I can sooth it is by taking gaviscon (you should be able to get it on prescription) and drinking milk. I try to avoid foods with too much butter in (I love pastries) and acidic foods. Also not eating too close to going to bed as lying down can assist the acid in your stomach to leak up into your windpipe. Hope this helps.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm 5w2d and suffering from slight bleeding, worried about it.

I had terrible indigestion in last trimester. You can ask your midwife or doctor to prescribe peptac - not Gaviscon. I basically had indigestion with everything I ate. Eat in moderation (no spicy food or pastry etc) and then take peptac. Leave at least 4 hours after eating before laying down/going to bed.

Mine stopped as soon as little boy was born and no he didn't have loads of hair! That's just a myth!!

Milk does not help it can make it worse. It makes you produce more acid to break down enzymes. Drink water and no fizzy stuff!

It probably won't go away now but take the peptac!

I'm exactly the same! But at 36 weeks its almost constant now. My midwife prescribed gavison, which sort of works a bit. I find anything with citrus fruits and tomatoes are a definite no go, but I'm fine with curries. Weird! I try not to eat too late (though I'm always hungry now) and a small glass of milk just before bed seems to help. Toothpaste and mouthwash give me the worst heartburn, though can't work out why, as you don't swallow it. My body is completely backwards at the minute! Haha. X

I'm 27+4 and suffering from horrendous heartburn too, it's so painful right thru to my shoulders! Spoke to my midwife who suggested ranitidine twice a day and it's been an amazing relief! x
