Hi Jo

Was diagnosed with DM today - how exciting... :( Have just tried to join Myositis UK so that I can sign up for the Meetup on Saturday, but I keep getting an error message after filling in my details. Any ideas what I can do to secure a place? Thanks.

Sorry Jo,

My wife and I are unable to attend.

I had throat surgery last week and had hoped to be well enough to attend but alas not; still quite poorly.

Sorry to have left it to the last minute but had hoped for the best.

My only question for Dr Gordon would be: Will it be possible any time soon to test for the genetic markers associated with a high cancer risk in respect of Myositis.

Apologies again, kind regards,

Colin

Sorry to hear your not well enough to attend, hope your on the mend soon. Can you undo your RSVP on the Meetup group, in case someone else would like the place.

It is possible to test, Certain Myositis autoantibodies are associated with a higher risk for cancer.

Thank you Jo, I think I managed to untick my RSVP, perhaps my booked places can be re-allocated to Pancho65, the poor soul who is new to our world and has posted above.

Unfortunately or not as it turns out reading recent reports of private information being sold on ( I now feel vindicated); I have never had or will have a facebook account so I miss out on a number of posts.

That said I am aware that cancer risk testing is possible; what I am trying to determine is, is it or will it soon be available for all via our own consultants.

Many thanks and good luck for tomorrow.

Colin.
