UHC has denied my wheelchair, covered by Medicare, for over 4 years. What's your experience? What insurance do you recommend?

Deny is their favorite word. I would just check at second hand stores as I’m sure you can find one for around $25. I needed a walker and got one for $5. Things are only going to get more challenging. I was hospitalized last year and that bill has still not been resolved. Hospital takes a loss, UHC makes record profits. Go figure.

I have one from a neighbor I did buy batteries, but it has a few probs. The therapist keeps sending requests and keeps getting rejected. Lots of folks have tried. Need a specially good one as have so many diagnoses.

How stressful for you! Can the wheelchair be repaired? It seems that UHC is one of the worst. Their motto of delay, deny, defend says everything about their business practices. If you can find a better insurance to switch to in your state, I would do it.

Humana! I got my electric wheelchair with all the lifts and they approved it right away and came to measure me to fit the wheelchair and delivered 2 weeks later.
