Not artistic, but...

there's something to be said for the beauty of home-canned goods.

After not canning for 40 years, I got the bug a couple months ago and have been doing just a few jars at a time. I've pickled every fresh vegetable that's crossed my path, and these are my own sour cherries and my aunt's blueberries. They may eventually become pie filling or jam.

I'm just hoping none of my neighbors watch me pick the cherries. I have to take my power wheelchair out through the field, then use my kitchen tongs to reach the ripe ones. I feel foolish, but at the same time I'm glad I can still do all this. 🙂

Those ARE beautiful! And good for you for thinking of using tongs. I don't think that would look silly at all. 👍👍👍

Foolish? No way! Resourceful, adaptive ?? Way!! You can go through life with a defeatist attitude, worry about what others see and think of you, or you can go ahead as you do, finding ways to accomplish goals and be productive. Well done, dear friend! The color and glow of those jars alone is evidence of your accomplishment.

I agree with GoatieGal !! Not foolish in the least! Very resourceful and adaptive! I think it is fantastic that you have found a way to do something that you enjoy! I love your creativity! And the preserves look yummy! Can't wait to hear what you do with them... especially if there is pie! 🧡🥧

I think it’s wonderful that you are still able to get outside and enjoy nature. And then you are able to create with your own hands and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that brings. Keep doing what you’re doing!😊👍

something so satisfying when you hear those lids “pop”. My sister and I are planning on canning pickled beets next week. It was a tradition for me with my mother until she passed away 4 years ago. Now my sister has joined me ❤️

Yay, good for you. Canning is one of my favorite things to do. I end up sharing a lot of my jam with friends, because I make so much of it that I could never eat it all. You have some yummy stuff there for sure! Enjoy.

Hurrah for you! I've been canning quite a bit this year. Today's chore is peaches and peach salsa. I love looking at those filled jars. I tell hubby I haven't put them away because I want to make sure they sealed, but it's really because I just like looking at them!

I think the kitchen tongs idea is fantastic!! I say, whatever works… Even if it’s not a perfect situation… The fact is that you went out there and you tried your best and now you get to reap the benefit!
