I received an article about clinical trials at the University of California San Francisco on a drug that can repair myelin. It uses venom from the green mamba snake. I'm wondering if the side effects include developing a lissssssp? π€£ It's a long way from being available, but it sounds interesting.
This is extremely interesting! The knowledge coming from scientists these past few years is absolutely amazing! From the CRISPR editing for new covid vaccines, to this! I have shared this article to my Facebook feed and people I know who also have MS, and many readers are very excited for this. I wish it would have come out 10 years ago, when I only had the small lesion in my left temporal lobe, with a diagnosis of CISMS! Or even 9 years ago when I had symptoms that led to me becoming clinically definite!
I knew there would be a form of a cure when I got diagnosed, but I didn't think it would be in my lifetime! I'm 30 next month, and I still didn't think one would come in my lifetime. I'm not eligible for HSCT, as I'm only relapse-remitting and my country is only doing tests with progressive MSers.
There are doctors at Barts in London using alemtuzumab, or Lemtrada, which essentially tries to do the same thing as HSCT, but with a drug. Maybe you could get a referral somehow if you're interested? That MS-selfie blog talks about things like that. Professor Giovannoni's email is at the bottom of this page; you just need to email him and ask for a free subscription.
Thank you for posting this ! I think I would not mind my son having a lisp over the issues he may face in the future. zzzhaank zzzou translator: thank you
