I'm a 70 year old male. Over the last 18 months I've had a continual string of MS events starting with numbness in my feet. That triggered a new round of MRIs and a lumbar puncture and the diagnosis of Progressive MS . I've seen specialists at U of Mich, had my first course of Ocrevus, gone through physical therapy and joined an on-line support group. Trying to educate myself alone is a big job given how much information is available and the wide variety of symptoms. It's been a year and a half of a steady stream of new information and "MS events"
Earlier this month I had another round of MRIs. The results came back "stable, no meaningful change in lesions". I had my follow up appointment with my Neurologist yesterday and it was an uneventful check up. I know the SOB Progressive MS has more in store for me, but right now, today, I have a pause in MS events. I know it won't last but I'm grateful for today's relief from any new events.
For all of you that participate in this support group, thank-you for your stories and for the support you've given me and others. You make a difference. For those that are in the middle of dealing with MS "events", hang in there and know you aren't alone.

Your message is rather hard to decipher. My guess is that you have known you had MS for quite a while and recently got this "new" diagnosis of "progressive MS." If that is the case then you have secondary progressive MS, which is not necessarily bad; almost everyone ends up there eventually. Many have what is called non-active progressive MS. Furthermore, there are many causes of foot numbness that are not MS, even if one has the MS diagnosis.
Like you, many of us are grateful for the pauses, feel connected and supported by those here in the forum community. None of us are pleased you, like we, have MS, but we are glad you're here. Happy holidays!
