I tried that my first year here (had just moved in that month), and that's when I discovered we have no children. πŸ™„ At least in my last neighborhood, we had THREE!

Halloween's my favorite!

As far as decorating goes, we get a few pumpkins to carve, then roast the seeds. I like the yellow ones with the big warts.

We get a fair amount of kids and pass out most (lol) of the candy.

The best part about Halloween at my house? I buy lots of my favorite chocolates to get ready for the kids that never show up, and I get to eat it all! Haven't had any kids trick or treat in my neighborhood for years, but I always have a huge bowl of kitkats and nestles crunch bars!πŸ‘»πŸ˜‚

My weakness is the Reese's pumpkins/trees/eggs in the industrial-sized bags from Sam's Club. For every one I buy to give away, I get one to hide for myself. 😁

Same story here. Never a child to be seen, but husband always buys "just in case"! πŸ˜‚

When I was little, Halloween stretched out for several days, and that was back when you didn't think twice about walking a couple miles. My grandparents lived right on a main road, so Grandpa would fill up a punch bowl with candy, then keep refilling it as needed. Time passed, we all moved away, and the neighborhood became a bunch of retirees. Wouldn't you know, Grandpa kept buying candy up until the year he died, and they hadn't had any Trick-or-Treaters since I was in school! Anyone who stopped by in November or December would be told "Here. Take some of this candy. We won't eat it." Grandpa hated sweets.

We live in the country/forest so no kids out here but our church does a trunk or treat & I always help with that.

Not really, a few things in the house. I have some yard items that could go out now, but we usually wait for the inflatables until the week of because of possible winds. The girls decorated windows with Halloween stickies and have carried around their pumpkins. They are super excited!

Mad Cat is out, but I had to turn her hiss/growl off because the wind was triggering her and I kept hopping up thinking I had a package delivered 🀣 The little one is still scared of it and checks to make sure it's still on the porch. I'm trying to convince her that Mad Cat will scare off any ghosts 🀣

No one has come to my door since 1990. I wonder sometimes if there's some secret sign I'm not reading...the broomstick propped by my door, my cackling laughter, or my pointed black hat and shoes...

I have a pumpkin and a mum on my front porch. We have a wooden scarecrow and pumpkin out front in the yard. That's it for decorating - lost the feeling after the girls grew up. I've been a scrooge for a number of years and keep the lights out on trick or treat night.

When I first moved here, I didn't know what to expect on Halloween so I asked a couple in church how many kids to expect and they said they get around 600! So I went out and bought 600 candy bars in preparation. Come Halloween, I only had about 200 kids, so I was stuck with 400 candy barsa that I HAD to eat myself.

We live in a small town/rural area, so they close down the main street of town and set up booths in front of the businesses. Anyone can reserve a booth to hand out candy, mainly churches and groups, and the businesses usually have someone handing out candy.

One of the churches takes down their chairs and puts up a maze and games and another business has a haunted house in theirs. Some booths have chili or hot chocolate. And our local radio is on scene playing music. One of our firetrucks and police cars is there for the kids to explore.

Everyone dresses up and it is a very well attended and fun evening.
