Hi! That's a curious answer without new scans to compare. You can search the forum posts for specific symptoms to learn how others deal with them. MSAA has great educational resources, as well as applications for a cooling vest or help with paying for MRI's.
A new doctor who didn't send you for an MRI before making his determination? I'd run far away from him.
Of course, it's possible that you were misdiagnosed and there's something else going on, but I'm of the opinion that a doctor who doesn't know you can't make a spot decision that way. Sounds more like he's one of those who either believe that women don't ever have legitimate illnesses or that older women can't possibly have MS.
If he's not sending you for any tests, I just wouldn't go back to him. Find someone else.
Agree that new MRI's are a must and another opinion besides this new neuro you saw, preferably one who specializes in MS. You didn't say what he thought was the cause of your symptoms if not MS ?
Did you have an LP / spinal tap when you were diagnosed? It sounds like you didn't have yearly MRI's done? Are you on a DMT?
I was diagnosed in 2014 also. I can't imagine the shock if I was suddenly told I don't have MS, especially after textbook symptoms and years on a DMT for MS. I hope you get some answers soon.
I'd change Dr's ASAP. I was diagnosed in 2005 & my MRIs haven't changed much either. That's not a reason for a Dr to tell you that you don't have MS. They need at least current MRIs of the brain, cervical & a spinal tap before telling you anything different.
well if they don't want to explain what is going on ,i sure would be looking for another ..sorry it is such a sad situation for having all the symtoms are have a doctor like this ...not that i want you to have this junk but not to help you anyway they could to me isn't a true doctor ....take care and hope for a better specialist in MS...just hoping you find a Specialist for MS...to me they are the only ones that know what it is and do help ...love and much happiness and lots of help to find a good doctor...
Ask for cervical & thoracic mri also. My thoracic spine loaded with lesions. Dr never took even though cervical mri noted demylinating lesikns top of thoracic spine. My goal has been trying to find out if you had no significant change how they can state that since I had too many lesions to count? Still wondering. I know frustrating but ukeep advocating for yourself.
Let us know how it goes.
Is the doctor a specialist in MS??? You didn't say.
Be careful your insurance could be in jeopardy. I think I would go back to the doctor who made the original diagnosis and have them reconfirm the original diagnosis perhaps with imaging.
Get a second opinion from a neurologist who specialises in MS
