”Hot Spots”?

I’ve been getting hot spots on my arms and hands….it’s sort of deep (not on the surface/ skin) like In the muscle. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this? It doesn’t last long and will just happen randomly. Anyone know what this is? How do you know if something is MS related vs just a pain? New to all of this!

Sorry you are going through this. Have you tried ice to help? or does it go away to fast to use ice? It may be something with the nerves but best to consult your Neuro. Keep us updated.

We don't always know if it's MS or a crazy nerve. Keep notes for your neurologist. If it gets very bad call your neuro & let him/her know. I hope you get answers so you can get relief.

does it feel like a spasm?

hi Sandydemop - it doesn’t feel like a spasm….it’s like a fleeting deep burning….sort of like intensely sore. Doesn’t last too long. And thank you to everyone for your response - I’ll definitely talk to my neurologist when I see her next month. In the meantime, I ordered an MS symptom tracking journal (who knew such a thing existed….thank you, Amazon!).

if it really hurts don't wait until your scheduled appointment. You don't have to suffer for a month!

On the other hand, it's very unlikely that it is treatable at this point. A symptom that occurs randomly at different locations and is transient is probably just something to deal with.

Don't wait to tell your neurologist it might be treatable but not if you wait

I have had something similar. It would occur just below my waist at the sides, front and back on both sides. Usually at just one location at a time. It was like a deep, stinging pain. This went on for a few months, then it stopped.

That was my last exacerbation, only mine lasted weeks, all they could do was offer steroids ( which I don't like to take). Anyway eventually mine went away and fortunately hasn't come back since. Best wishes Robert

love this response! I do like the idea that I know have a “reason” for every ache and pain!

an overactive nerve I bet. TRY A COLD WRAP OR ICE BAG, AND SEE IF THAT HALPS.

I'm so sorry, BeachDogMom! Yes, I have gotten these spots temporarily on occasion. Mine might last up to a day or two, and then they fade away. Sometimes I get a "bruised" sensation, but no bruise ever forms. That, too, goes away. I hope you're free of this soon.
