We have a group of about 6-7 deer that visit regularly. They will lay around the yard after eating (we don't feed them anything, they just like the grass and the leaves. Maybe some treats every once in a while but not too often. Do need to get another salt lick for them one of these days). This was the first time one of them every layed so close to the back porch.

We love it. They will come lay in our yard and the neighbor next door. They didn't start coming into our yard until about 6 months or so after my dog passed away. This summer and this fall is when they really stated to come regularly.

Some of them are still sketchy if they hear someone in the house but others don't mind...only turn their head for a few seconds to look and go back to what they were doing.

This year, we had another mom with a set of twins. I think the bigger does are a mom and maybe a fawn that she had the year before as females usually stay with their mom for a couple of years and bucks for a year until they are chased off to go find a mate.

They are wonderful! occasionally I will have a visit from a group of 3 does and their babies, but I haven't seen them much this year.

When we first moved into this house we didn't see them, most likely because I had a dog. About 6 months after she passed away, they started showing up. This year has been the most we have had - 7 at one time.

hiding from those darn bucks...ahhahhha...if you just talk like talking to a small child they get use to your voice ..especially if you feed them then they will get closer as you feed them ...mine use to until i got mad at them a couple of times and yelled at them for fighting which would make the food go to the ground ..made me so mad and i chased them i know i shouldn't but it really makes me mad that a couple of the moms wouldn't let the little ones eat ...anyway they jump all over the place trying to watch me feed ..so funny ...but again there are 17 this year again and it is hard to feed so many but if they just stood side by side and just ate there is room but just like kids they want all of it ...enjoy watching them ,such beauty ...

They are messy too. Waiting for a day they are not out there on a 'decent' day to clean up the yard because they poop ALL OVER the place! The downside of having them in the yard.
