Need HVAC help (no, not really; I couldn't help myself)

Today was a very happy day for me! I'd bought a motorized wheelchair several months ago but haven't done much with it. My daughters decided that we needed a girls' day out, so they picked me up this morning, loaded the chair in the back of their van, and off we went to an indoor flea market in the next county. And a farmer's market. And then to Cracker Barrel.

It was a very long day, but I had a blast! The wheelchair worked very well, and I was able to practice opening doors by myself. That took a bit of effort, not because they were hard to open but because everyone rushed to help me! I also had a lovely man fix my coffee for me, because he realized I couldn't reach the creamer without standing up. By the end of the day, I could barely walk, but I'm gaining a lot of confidence with the wheelchair, and we're already planning several more activities! We're going to try the city museum, the zoo, and a local history festival in the coming months.

After being increasingly isolated at home over the last couple years, I have a life again!

That is wonderful news! I am in the process of getting my motorized scooter, and your post helps me look forward to it, instead of dreading having to use it! I Will go to the Zoo, and ride all around that place! Thanks so much!

It is definitely worth it! Going full speed through the parking lot made me feel like I was able to run again. Of course, my daughter wasn't happy that I kept running away from her, but I thought it was pretty funny. Just being able to go out in public without becoming exhausted in the first 15 minutes really is a life changer. I'm sorry that I waited so long to do this.

When I was diagnosed, a wheelchair was my worst fear. I consider myself more educated now! I have not needed one yet but at times have wish for one when I am super tired out and because of that, have trouble walking. It sounds more and more like freedom to me! So good for you!

It really is! If you can't afford to buy one, then I suggest you beg, borrow, or steal one. I wish that Medicare took them more seriously, because being able to get out and about makes an enormous difference in mental health.

My family has cancelled so many plans over the last few years because we knew I couldn't handle the walking, and they wouldn't go without me. I do feel a bit guilty when I jump out of the chair to walk a short distance, but I'm adjusting my attitude. This is so much better for all of us.

I have the one my mom used. Of course she was 5'7" and I'm 6', but it's just a typical one with no motor.

Glad you had a wonderful time. Nothing like being able to move around, especially outside of the house. I have one and I have enjoyed it. Keep riding. 🛵👍
