Anyone feel physically better when Aunt Flo visits?

So, I haven't Googled this yet, but I wonder if any other ladies out there have a similar experience as me? I have noticed this pattern, maybe only in the last several months or so, that when I have my period, I feel like my body has more energy than before. Don't get me wrong - I still need my walker and have my usual symptoms, but I feel like a little better during those days than the rest of the month. Anyone else experience anything like this? I wonder if I should ask my neuro if this is a thing or if there's some relation with my hormones or something?

Ok, now off to ask Google.

* just Googled and it seems like all the articles I could find point to women having worsening MS symptoms during their period ... which is the opposite of what I am looking for ... ah, oh well ...

Everybody is different! don't give up on your theory. I would suggest getting your hormone levels checked. Maybe it is related. Now you can enjoy ? your time of the month with your Aunt (I never heard it called Aunt Flo).

OMG: I am completely the OPPOSITE of YOU! ;-)

Well, actually, I've just "entered my first official year of menopause too BTW, BUT whenever Flo came to visit, I always felt worse. And, yes, this cycle does affect our MS sx, too.

Sorry to hear that it was the opposite for you. I must be in the minority!

I'm with DM0329 on this one- It makes me feel so much worse! My MS symptoms are amplified and I get to combine that with the monthly aches, pains, bloating, nausea, migraines, etc etc.... It is absolutely miserable 😩

Oh my goodness, yes. I thought I was a little crazy for having this thought lollll. However, I’ve also noticed that whenever I get my monthly cycle. Whatever it is, I’ll take it.

Oh good to hear I am not alone! It’s so bizarre, right?!

Just because it's not common doesn't mean it is not happening to you. Maybe you feel better without much progesterone 🤷‍♀️ I only notice a change in symptoms when sleep is a problem. Your OBGYN could check a hormone panel, but know that there's a specific time frame to measure those when you're making the appointment...I think like cycle day 16 and 8am is when I had to go.

I've had so many problems with my period my whole life that it is thrilling that you can find some good in it!! I have always said that "Charley was visiting". Maybe that was my problem I should have called it Aunt Flo!!! Menopause is throwing me for a loop in many ways however I do not have the typical hot flashes. My mood swings aren't really that bad until I feel tired.

Sorry to hear it’s been an issue for you for so long. Never heard of Charley! I grew up in the 90’s and remember Cher from the movie Clueless calling it “surfing the crimson wave” 😂

Me, too! No hysterectomy, but I still feel different for that one week a month, years after the bleeding stopped.

I was fortunate enough to have all my plumbing removed in my 40s, before being diagnosed.

Google doesn't know everything LOL! I'm with you, when my period comes, my constant 'funky leg/foot' (nerve pain, muscle discomfort, spasms etc ) subsides greatly...a pleasant relief every single month. Crazy, I know, but happens consistently and I never thought I'd be so thrilled to break out the tampons! Double LOL! I think it's probably different for everyone, but you are not alone in this department :) Sincerely, Hope

How great! Ha- I find that when I walk up the stairs, my right knee lifts a little easier than usual. And so true, Google doesn’t know everything!

very interesting! I'll have to pay more attention to see if mine is affected.

yep, but not back to my baseline until the end. basically, 10 days before i become a roaring heat monster and have to blast the a.c. then during, it gets a little better and at the end i'm back to normal.

I am nearing fifty but I’m still pretty regular. I haven’t noticed any extra energy or less pain when I’m visited by Aunt Flo, but I do feel better in other ways. It’s like I’m overly irritable for a week or so before, but that seems to subside after I start. Does anyone here do that?
