Professional Patient

I used to half joke that I gave up a career as a professiona l photographer to become a professional patient.

However, this week, I've not been half joking. I'm wondering if I get a paid vacation from CT scans, Ultrasound scans, MRIs, blood tests, mammograms, and whatever other test or scans my doctors can come up with. Every day this week, I've been going to all such scans and tests, just like last week and the week before. And I can add next week and the week after that.

Oh! And I got to add 3 new meds to my daily regiment!

I hate that I use half of my vacation days to go to doctor/testing appointments!Thought I was going to have to have another Mohs surgery for a skin cancer on my face but since it was a six month wait to get in my regular dermatologist let me try a topical treatment that is meant for superficial skin cancers (mine was nodular basal cell). Thankfully I saw the derm on Thursday and the 8 week treatment worked, no sign of the cancer. Unfortunately she found another one but this one isn't on my face so she can just cut it out if the biopsy confirms her suspicion. She hasn't been wrong yet and this is the 6th one. Now I don't have to take 2 days off work for the Mohs surgery.

Hang in there. Try to find some enjoyable things to do between appointments so you feel like there is more to life than medical care 😊😊

With all the tests I sometimes wonder if the Dr is just trying to keep techs employed🤣 But seriously I'm glad that they can do the tests to stay in too if what is going on. Hope yours come back with good results.
