I've found that my sleep follows a definite pattern. I'll have 3 great nights' sleep and then 3 that totally suck. On those "nights", I don't get back to bed until around dawn.

I was just complaining about this. And then when I do sleep. I dream up the wazoo. Usually nightmares. So I am not sure which is better. Depends if I get to use a cool gun that doesn't malfunction. But let's face it. Punching doesn't work, screams aren't loud, guns always malfunction and for some reason the bad guy always figures that out. Lol

You don't have afternoon fatigue? I spend all day taking meds to keep me awake.l average 13-14 hours of sleep a night.I wish I had some of your symptoms.

I see my wife about a half hour a day and my nuerologist is looking for ways to keep me awake.

That is my problem some times, Jackjosh I just call it a night and hope that I can get a good nights sleep the next time. If it gets to be a regular occurrence, I will discuss with my medical team. :-D

I was referred to a sleep medicine doctor and will be having a sleep study in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed it finds something easily treatable. I really don't want to have to take sleeping pills every night but am at the point I am willing to now. This has been a problem pretty much my entire adult life. Before MS I could function on the interrupted sleep but it is getting more difficult.

Maybe you can be referred to a sleep medicine doctor too.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but while a CPAP will help you to sleep more soundly, it doesn't do diddly squat for putting you to sleep in the first place. My son and I both love ours now, but they didn't do as much for us as we'd hoped.

I frequently take either Nyquil or 1/4 cup of whiskey before bed, but they only work about 50% of the time. My MS insists on doing its own thing, and that means I'm up at least half the night a minimum of 3 days a week.

I don't think I have sleep apnea but some other type of sleep disorder. Tylenol PM and Lunesta both help me wake up fewer times. I don't typically have trouble falling asleep, it is staying asleep that is the problem. Some nights I wake up more than 10 times but always at least 3-4 and not enough deep sleep. If I gain any pearls of wisdom I will share with the group.

Please do! From the sound of it, you might get good use out of a CPAP. I do still have nights when I wake up after a couple hours, but I'm getting a more restful sleep.

Make sure they let you try different masks! I made the mistake of getting the one that just fits over my nose, and since mine happens to be a bit longer and pointier than the average person, it gets squished all the time.
