Did any of y'all have a normal mri when they 1st suspected ms? My brain and spine mri's had no lesions but I have a ton ms symptoms, and they have ruled other things out. Lumbar puncture in a month. Dr put me on gabapentin in August which has helped a lot with ms hug and burning sensation in my leg. Just really want to know what's wrong with me.

A 2nd opinion, including a new set of eyes to read your mri's, is always a good idea.

I was told I had no lesions on a 2010 mri. When mri's were redone in 2014 and compared to the 2010 mri's, a new set of eyes told me the lesions were obvious on the 2010 mri's but had been "missed".

Good luck to you and let us know how what your LP shows. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Thank you I have been thinking about that.

My first MRI about 25 years ago was essentially normal. The next one about 5 years ago showed multiple lesions. MRIs have improved a lot, so lesions back then may have been missed. I hope you get answers soon.

there are different grades of MRIs. My doc uses a 3T or 3Tesla. some places use a 1.5 or a 2T. The Mayo Clinic uses a 7T. try to find out what kind of machine and maybe get a higher grade one if you can next time.

Sorry to hear your MRI is normal (can't believe I said that) I hope you get an answer soon

I too have normal mri. Lots of MS symptons but a NP who suggests MS but is not yet willing to make it "official". Next appt in March, I need answers and then treatment if possible. I have lost 60 lbs, have acquired double vision in last 4 years (progressive) and have acute muscle pain, cramping and jerking. Also, progressive bladder urgency. Have had years of migraines, pain and fibromyalgia. I'm at a loss about what to do. Am I on the right site? Friend gave my this url, she has documented MS.

My first mri was inconclusive. My spinal tap was negative. Awesome neuro called it ms ten months later without further testing.

My next mri was ten years later. Obvious ms that time.

My first mri was 1,5 with contrast had lesions brain ๐Ÿง , cervical and spine. Also had lesions behind right eye ๐Ÿ‘. Last three have been 3Telsa and still there but no new lesions for ten years. Havenโ€™t had exacerbations for ten years either, but have the effects of MS. Good luck maybe you need second opinion? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ

still in limboland, but my first few mri's showed suspicious white matter changes (for my age), but no lesions. my first spinal mri on the other hand showed a lesion. a couple after that were clear (brain mri still weird but undiagnoseable if that's a word) and then they show longer, shorter, darker, just depends. good luck on your journey and may you find diagnosis quickly!

My MRI's were clear for years until suddenly they weren't. Since the first one that showed anything also showed older lesions, I'm thinking that either weak machines had been used or someone misread the earlier scans. It took a very long time to get my diagnosis.
