Thinking it was a good thing also... Just my intuition.? IDK
I got there, with tons of paper work.. proof of everything.. Cause no I do not have a valid NY state id๐ they can kiss it!๐๐คฃ Anyway, after about 20 mins they tell me,
um you have to be 60 or a teacher... ๐ค
Not what the recording said! And it gave me the appt and NY State says I can....
Pharmacist... Sorry ๐ That's all we can do.
Y'all best fix your recording, cause I'm going to keep calling it! AND making appointments. (Not really, but still!) ๐๐คฃ
Something didn't feel right about getting yesterday, so I will wait for the next one!
Love you all!๐ค๐๐

Sorry to hear of the hassle. I am in New York, and when I called my local health department they me gave a 'comorbidities' site. Maybe you can find this in your area too.I was able to get an appointment without that site, as the local shot locations changed their age requirement from 65 to 60, so I got in that way.
I had my first Covid shot Sunday, and my symptoms were nowhere near as bad as my reaction to the Shingles Vaccines. I had a minor headache, and for the most part was just very tired the next day, and didn't really do much of anything. I had massive headaches from the Shingles vaccines, and since I am headache-prone (as are many with MS), I expected the same from the Covid vaccine, but suprisingly... not to be!!
I hope that is my non-reaction! Shingles made me feverish, chills, awful. That's why I'm getting it on a Friday so I can recover before work on Monday if it happens again.
Sorry for the snafu, but maybe this means you will get the J&J one dose. It's formulated differently, more like the annual 'flu vaccine, but just as effective as the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines at preventing hospitalization and death. And tested on 'way more people, with less side effects. So perhaps it's a win win? (As for the age thing, being as ancient as I isn't all it's cracked up to be!)
Maybe? I have not heard much on the j & j... kdali ? ๐ ๐คฃ And I went into shock when I got asked if I was old enough for the grocery discount ๐ that starts at 55 here. ๐ญ๐ ๐คฃ๐ค๐๐
Iโm still waiting for it. My neuro did clarify that she is not recommending stopping Kesimpta to get vaccinated, but to aim for the week before the shot if possible, and take whichever is offered. We did agree that Iโm not in any shape to handle the fever that comes with the other shots, so Iโm waiting for my turn for JJ. I have a primary appointment in a few weeks and she should have them by then, so fingers crossed! Wait what? 55? Were you wearing a mask though? Cashiers today donโt even know what a grapefruit is, I would just say yes and see if it saves a few dollars!
I didn't get a fever with either of my Moderna shots. I did get chills the first night after the 2nd shot. There was no fever though. I just couldn't get warm if I wasn't snuggled into a blanket. There was definitely a headache the next morning. After lots of sleep, everything was back to normal by day 3.
Dr did give the official go ahead to switch to Kesimpta and they were going to start paperwork on Monday. Still waiting to hear back from office with next steps.
I'm in Queens in NY State and my husband and I both went to a NY State run site (Aqueduct Racetrack) which was incredibly well run. We got the appointment on the NY State site. Although we were eligible for the vaccine, no one ever asked or checked about that. We did have to show id, which in our case were NY State driver's licenses. They may have an alternative if you don't have a NY State id. So you may have much better luck getting the vaccine at a NY State site than a pharmacy. Also, I understand that the NY State vaccine sites give Pfizer, but the pharmacies give Moderna, and Pfizer is supposed to have less reactions (we had no reactions at all but people I know who got the Moderna vaccine had reactions). Also, I was able to get appointments for my husband and I when I awakened in the middle of the night and the laptop was on my bed so went to the NY State site and voila, appointments available. So you may want to try that out. Good luck to you!!
I'm so glad that you got your vaccine!! ๐ I live in Hicksville NY! ๐ So any mass vaccination site is 2hrs away, unfortunately for me. And they are soooo far behind out here, it's all about supply and demand. We have no supply yet. ๐ค๐๐
Darn. I know there's a Hicksville on Long Island, but I guess you mean Hicksville as out in the sticks. LOL I really hope you can get your vaccine soon and hopefully they will be opening up eligibility to more people. And opening more sites so the vaccine is accessible to everyone!! ๐๐๐๐
We with ms have a compromised immune system and your neuro should give you a letter of necessity. I know this post was almost a year ago, but for further notice
