Christmas Music

I'm so against playing Christmas music too early. It drives me nuts! But after Black Friday, crank that Christmas music up!

These are my favorite songs and the artists performing them:

"Mary Did You Know" Kathy Mattea

"Oh, Holy Night" Luciano Pavorati

" The Chipmunk Christmas Song" The Chipmunks (though I can do a fantastic impersonation)

"It Wasn't His Child" Trisha Yearwood

"Carol of the Bells" Trans Siberian Orchestra

I love Christmas music no matter what time of the year it is, especially if they are songs about Jesus.

I respectfully have to disagree with when to begin. Christmas music on Spotify all year for me!

Don't get me wrong. I actually love Christmas music. I guess I worked in retail too many years, and always worked the Thanksgiving to New Years continuous rush. Hearing the very vanilla mall repeat, just has a way to kill appreciation for ANY genre of music.

I can understand that. Plus, working in retail, I would imagine you saw a lot of folks turning Christmas into something it isn’t meant to be...like fighting for the last available parking spot and going into debt for things they don’t need...etc!

Oh, there would be fights over positions in check out lines, or who grabbed the last of a particlar item . . . I did have a fantastic Christmas retail job once, though--I was the assisstant manager of a Hickory Farms kiosk in the middle of the mall. What made it fantastic was if we had stressed-out customers rushing by the kiosk, I could always happily offer of wonderful white chocolate mints, or a sample of a cheese ball or a little sausage, and I'd watch those frazzled, stressed out people transform into delighted humans again.

😁

That’s a fun memory and it makes me smile, too, because some of my dad’s favorite things at Christmas was turkey sausage and those little butter mints from Hickory Farms! I miss him but the memories make me smile.

I don't think I've ever heard Bob Seaer's "Little Drummer Boy", and he's one of my favorite artists!

My mom always told us NO Christmas music until Dec. 1. I've moved it to the day after Thanksgiving. She always put on Joy to the World by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir which had lots of skips. Tradition. When we each moved out she would call on Dec. 1 and you never heard her voice over the phone but, "Joy to the world, to the world, to the world..."

Wow, CrazyCatWom One radio station in my neck of the woods started playing Christmas music right after Halloween! The day after! Way too early! My favorites are The Little Drummer Boy, and Blue Christmas! :-D

I have so many Christmas songs I enjoy, though. Andrea Bocelli has the most beautiful voice. At the same time, Bob Dylan’s Christmas albums is one of my favorites, too...talk about completely different styles! Rod Stuart has an incredibly good album. Martina McBride...Willie Nelson...Burl Ives...Dean Martin is always one of my faves...Tingstad and Rumbel...Elvis Presley...Manhattan Steamroller...Johnny Matthias...The Piano Guys...Jim Brickman...I could go on and on. Oh Holy Night is probably one of my favorite songs....

I absolutely love Adrea Bocelli! I imagine he could preform any Christmas song and it would be wonderful! And every one you just listed--you have a choice in music very similar to mine! I go from ACDC to Zamfir!

Exactly. Yes, my Christmas music taste is quite eclectic! Gotta add Bing, Boris Karloff, Louis Armstrong, The Temptations, Lindsey Sterling, Merle Haggard, Trans Siberian Orchestra, The Lower Lights....ok, I will stop but not because I can’t name many, many more!
