Alternative/complementary treatment?

Has anyone ever heard of or tried the Tao Patch? I came across it online. $250 for 3 patches smaller than a button that adheres to your skin. Not FDA approved as a medication but some claim that it helps people with MS balance, walk, etc.

thanks,

San

I think someone posted about this not long ago. You might try the search button to read what was said. When I looked into it, everything pointed to a lot of hype, but it might work for someone.

Thanks greaterexp for your wisdom here. Probably not worth trying.

greaterexp - seems like you saw the same pigs flying past that I did...

One of the pieces of so called "evidence" being cited on their website by the sellers of this 'device" actually referred to studies that had been done on plants FFS - which really proves beyond all doubt that it will work with MS - not! Yes, I'm being a tad sarcastic, but is it any wonder..........

There is a never ending supply of people ready to prey on the vulnerable and gullible and desperate, and having looked at some of the stuff on this patch, it seems like it's just same old, same old yet again.

Was it an ad on Facebook? I saw a patch thing, but I thought it was for pain. Of course they had lots of positive comments, but you don’t know of those are real.

Yes, ads all over Facebook. You can also attend online webinars with the creators. Uses Low Level Light Therapy, which sounds like a promising therapy if you look it up.

I'm not sure if I really believe such tiny things can do so much.

I have a habit of setting money on fire in the name of self-research, but I just got the vibration plate and forget to use it because it’s in the basement 🤦‍♀️

Same. I justify it a lot. Well, IF it works it's only $4/ month over the 2 years. And if it doesn't (or I stop using it), I'm only out a hundred bucks.

It's not terribly rational, but makes me feel better about trying it.

I would rather try something than sit around grumbling about how nothing could possibly improve my situation, but it is costly. I wish I could have back all the money I’ve spent on supplements 😬

We never know what the road not taken looks like but I get it. Trying to get in more exercise myself. Also spoke to a nutritionist recently. He made a few supplement type suggestions so I'll let you know.

Last thing I took a chance on was the inversion table. That has been worth every penny for me.

Ok, i don't like being upside down myself but if it works for you, great! what does it do for you?

It has a strap to limit how far you go. Never actually been upside down.

I use it to stretch out my back, sides, and shoulders.

Have you ever done me yoga?

I bought it for $99 when they launched on indiegogo in July. I had been researching it since early June. The price was low enough I didn't mind trying it (especially if it works for 2 years). It arrived late August, just after I went back to work. I had it on for about half hour the other night to do the before/15 minute video recordings that they want you to do when starting. It's hard to tell if it helped much by 15 min without seeing the videos side by side.

Hoping to start the step up tomorrow with 4 hours per day for a week, then move up to 8 per day the next week.

Please will you let us know how you go on, it sounds intriguing 👍 😊

Will do.

I'm not looking for a miracle cure. I'm hoping it just improves my balance a little bit so I look less like a drunkard walking the halls at work.

I'm all for trying a small, noninvasive device before putting more chemicals in my body.

I'm all ears. I do not like looking like a drunken sailor either.

2 things are certain at this point.

1. I cannot pass a sobriety test based on my lack of ability to walk heel to toe.

2. The tape that came with the taopatch is not strong enough to survive Illinois' summer humidity. Patches did not stay on well for the 4hr trial.

Sandydemop in reply to CV97

So sorry that it didn't work for you. Can you try a type of medical tape? there is the kind that comes in a first aid kit. And yes, i would not like to have my sobriety questioned based on my walking. Take care

I'll figure out something to use. I have plenty of tape here to try tomorrow.

I just searched the web and the people on the site didn’t have good reviews about it

Ah, the power of wishful thinking,,,if I spend 250 dollars on something I would want to believe it was working...and maybe I could fool myself into thinking it was money well spent

That placebo effect can be just as powerful as any drug. But I'd rather pay $1 for a 1000 gelatin caps I fill with sugar to get the placebo effect than make someone else wealthy off my desperation. Of course, I'd have to get someone to fill them for me so I wouldn't know they were placebos!

Thanks everybody for sharing your experience. I have decided not to try it. :( I'm open to non drug alternative or complementary treatment but this just doesn't pass muster. I don't want to be desperate. However, if anyone has a good experience, please share. thanks again.
