Thread painted quilt for grandson

My husband goes on dinosaur digs and has infused his grandson with enthusiasm for the dead beasts. This is a simple panel I added borders to and did some thread painting on to highlight areas. He liked it, and that's all that mattered.

My thread painting doesn't show up well. I should have taken closeup pictures. The panel did all the work.

Post another picture!

I doubt that I could get it back from him to take another picture.

Your dexterity must be pretty good to do that.

I need to improve mine.

I'm just dragging it under the sewing machine in many directions. Changing thread all the time is the hardest part.

Let the cursing begin! :D

I'd have some trouble with that.

Earlier this morning, I watched my husband break a needle in half as he was sewing a hole in a shirt!

I have also seen him put his finger through the timer button on the stove.

He's a professional hand model. (for Hulk hands-LOLOL)

Sounds scary! I’ll bet you keep sharp objects away from him.

Nope!I still let him cook!

Cooking doesn’t count.

All right! You are deeper into this craft than just quilts! I just love it! I did a twin sized quilt for one of my 4 grands that had an underwater theme. I did thread painting that had several textures throughout that depicted fish, seaweed and shells. I need to ask my daughter for a picture, because that is one of those that I did not get a picture of before I gave it. More recently I painted a beach scene on a square to make a pillow. I embellished it with shells, then used metallic threads to enhance the colors of the water, sand and beach grass. Our crafts are one of the things we can do that remain long after we have done them, that give us satisfaction and joy in living! Washing dishes and vacuuming, no matter how well we do them, don't remain very long. Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful work!

Well said! When I die, I don't want the only thing people say about me to be "she kept a clean house!"

I hope you can get a picture of your thread painting to share here!

I looked up thread painting and now I'm inspired to get out my embroidery threads. I love to add designs to plain pillow cases of any color. I've been crafting since I was a little girl, so I can do a little of every craft. I like to build things, but that's where hubby draws the line. I let him borrow some of my tools now & then.😄😄

Please explain "thread painting ".

It’s pretty much creating a picture with free motion sewing. This panel was already quite bright, but when I quilted it, I used thread to accent areas.
