Does anyone have frequent urination? Do ... - My MSAA Community
Does anyone have frequent urination? Do you take anything for it? Has it helped? For those on ocrevus has jt helped the frequency?
I haven't taken anything for it yet. Waiting to talk to my doctor.
I take Elmiron everyday for IC, seems not to help. I was prescribed Toviaz, it did help. But I always felt I had to go and couldn’t. It was doing to good of a job controlling the urination. So than I was prescribed Flomax for I could use it again with ease. So needless to say I’m still urinating frequently!
I take myrbetriq 50g x1. It helps a lot. The dr also has me go to the restroom every 3hrs because I stop having the urge to go sometimes
Yes I like it I don’t have search for the bathroom but I still seek them out and make myself go so I don’t have an accident
I had a kidney infection 23 years ago and I asked the doctor what to do so I never get one again. She said drink. So my frequent urination is due to the fact that I am never without a (non-alcoholic) drink.
I agree with Hidden to drink. I do not take any meds specifically for incontinence. That I reserve as a last resort. I usually start the day by drinking 8-16 oz of water before my breakfast and medication/supplements. I try not to drink anything 2 hours before I go to bed. On long excursions, I wear adult protection. And 'PB4UGO' is my new normal. I have had a few 'accidents' but they are few and far in between.
Yes, started with oxybutynin (Ditropan) in Jan. Absolutely terrible dry mouth with that one. Switched to vesicare in May, it was a little better, but still subject to urgent/frequent urination. Dr pulled me off Vesicare in July due to new research that shows a link between long-term use and increased risk of dementia. Began Myrbetriq in July. It has worked far better for me than the other 2. I can go a couple hours in between bathroom breaks, even with morning coffee and constant water drinking after that. 4-5 hours of sleep without bathroom break is becoming the norm, compared to 1.5-2 hrs with no meds/earlier meds.
Frequent urination existed long before MS diagnosis. If I had known meds could help this much, I would have talked to my dr years ago.
Went that route a couple times with various urologists. Sure, they can make you regular urinating, but it always comes with a cost. Constipation like you've never known before. (amongst several other things) Thought I'd have to have my B.M.'s surgically removed? All the prunes in the world can't fix that! Tried suppositories by the jar full.
Yep, not going that route again. I simply fine tuned up my GPS, and can go from one to the next, no problem. What else do I have to do these days? And at night...I can do it without loosing any sleep. The urge wakes me up, the trick is to get up immediately, hit the bathroom, and then back in bed, asleep before your head hits the pillow. Got that down perfectly! So, how many times in a night? Would need to instal a counter! Because I do it all so automatically, it's like sleep walking?
Yes, that was one of the first symptoms of my MS journey. Ocrevus calmed it down, but still need to go about 8X while at work and once during the night. I haven't asked for any med as I feel I already take enough, but one day I may.
Once at night is a standard for regular people under 60, over 60 twice a night is the norm.
Thanks and good to know; so I have about a decade.. Someone should come up with a booklet or App (perhaps an algorithm) for all of the MS variables that could track individual symptoms and then suggest what you might expect to occur - lol.
Sounds like we are about the same age. I have tried pelvic floor PT - it didn't help.
My mother's pelvic floor dropped and she had surgery to repair it and I've always been paranoid, but she had 3 kids and I never had any, so I'm stopped worrying about that...
I began taking Trospium this year. As mentioned, there are side effects to every medication and all of the overactive bladder medications will dry you out. I counter with ensuring lots of water and being cognizant of my fiber intake. Oh, and lots of eye gel drops to combat dry eyes.
Tolterodine works like magic
I take tolerodine and mybetric and I’m just beginning to have problems again, trying to get appt for Botox now
Oh yes frequent trips to the bathroom I feel for you. I take Oxybutynin 5mg. tabs 1 - 3 times a day for several yrs. now. It does help. My ins. won't cover Myrabetric 9sp)? Hope this helps.
