I am just about done with this nasty, rainy, thundering, lightning, flooding and now tornadoing weather! Half of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana are about to float down the Arkansas River and the rest of us are just flooding. Yesterday we had a small tornado go overhead and touch down on one of the small lakes on the outside of town. It was less than a mile from me. I have been here for 2 majorly damaging tornados and I am not ready for another one! I live in a mobile home so we have to get to the shelter down the road when the sirens go off. I grew up with earthquakes and they are a lot easier than tornados! First of all, you can pick where you live and stay away from the fault lines. Tornados, on the other hand, pick and choose where they want to go. We are supposed to have a couple of more days of rain & then maybe clear up for a while. I hope the weather man is right this time cuz the south is about to float away! (Not to mention what it is doing to my flower beds!)

hairbrain4 I have no idea what it is like to be in the path of a tornado! I would not be able to live in such a place for long! Please stay as safe as you can, and stay out of harms way.
It's pretty nerve-racking at times when the sirens go off because you have no idea where they are or where they are going unless you have a scanner and weather radio. In 2009 we had one that came through town & tore it up pretty bad. We watched it from our front porch about a mile away. We had the wind at our house but could see the twister & all the debris that it was spinning around. That was scary because I knew people that lived in town and their houses were being torn to shreds & praying that everyone was ok. We did have one death that year, an elderly woman that was trying to get out of the Masonic Lodge that was a pile of bricks afterward.
Tornadoes 🌪 are not very reliable. I used to live in Sarnia, Canada, it’s nickname was tornado alley. They can change direction in the blink of an eye. My prayers go out to all of you, and for the rain to stop, keep us posted when you are able and I will pray for your safety, blessings and hugs Jimeka 🤗
The nightly news is quite frightening to watch. I have lived all my life in earthquake country and you seem to get immune to them. You can’t see an earthquake coming like you do tornados. But tornadoes seem to do more damage. 🌪🙃
Oh, I would take earthquakes any day over tornados. I have been through many earthquakes in S. CA and N. CA. I lived in Sacramento when the one hit that took down some of the freeways. I did leave CA the year before the Northridge quake that did so much damage. But I have fallen out of bed, fallen over, driven on overpasses and more during earthquakes. There was even an earthquake the night my husband and I were married! The little lady that lived across the way in our apartments knocked on our window and told "Us newlyweds" to knock it off! It definitely was a memorable night! Tornados don't leave those kinds of memories.
I live in an area that historically has not had tornadoes, but several years ago, weather patterns began to shift. This year, my weather radio has alerted me to nearby tornadoes multiple times. So far, I've had only 60 mph gusts and tree limbs snapped; because the area is not densely settled, tornadoes that touch down have damaged mostly wood lots and out buildings. My house has a foundation, but no basement (water table in this region is too high for real basements) so my neighbors come over when we are under a tornado watch. They live in a mobile home. It is indeed a scary time because tornadoes are so unpredictable. I hope you, and everyone else stays safe in severe weather whether it is flood, wildfire, heat, tornadoes (just a short list).
I hear you loud and clear,I live in alabama the threat is always there in the south .We can't control the weather what we can control is our reaction to it.be safe the rest will come later,it is hard to do when you are in the midst of it.Shoot,our power went out last night with the storms for 2 minutes and I was having a meltdown,literally.WE,people just don't want any distruptions, I am spoiled!
I hear you about the power. We are on a co-op here and it goes out all the time, sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes a few hours. Last year it went out for 4 hours due to a tree on our property falling on a wire! They were really nice about it and didn't charge us for coming out. They were just glad that we called it in as they were already looking for where the breach was. We didn't know at first for about an hour!
Feel free to vent! That’s why we are here. I grew up in northeastern Oklahoma - smack dab in the middle of tornado alley. I can’t tell you how many spring days I spent in the storm cellar over the years. So sorry you are going through this. Praying that this “tornado season” ends quickly.
hairbrain, just stay safe dear friend, yeah, already 500 tornadoes in this yr. Alone, what a scarry record to break already! wow!😮 Bee-very careful of those things! They are starting to become very deadly! & they are not natural anymore or normal, heck, it seems there is no more normal!😒 Many Prayers for ya!🙏💐
It has been awhile, fortunately, for me. We do occasionally have one but nothing like what you get. Indiana is such a boring state but at least our weather hasn't been terrible lately. Lots of rain, but not enough to flood. Good luck to you. Be safe!
