Neuro update

I saw my Neuro yesterday for a recheck on Rx for headaches. Since starting the Propanolol I still have headaches so my Neuro is adding Nortriptyline 10mg. The Rx has been sent to mail order Rx. I start with 1 for a week and then can add another one every 2-3 days up to 5 pills if it is not working. I believe I was on this in the very beginning with my headaches but I don't remember why I stopped it. My old Neuro prescribed it under the drug Pamelor for what I can find in my online pharmacy records. I guess time will tell if it's going to work. Will update after I start it.

Let us know how you get on Jessie. If your head hurts it gets unpleasant. It can be very frustrating when nothing works, Blessings Jimeka 🤗

Hi there.

I’m hoping those medicines have given you some relief.

I have been dealing with debilitating migraines for about five years this year. It’s actually part of what got me into the Neuro for my MS disagnosis.

I’ve been on almost every medicine for migraines. Preventative and abortive.

The VA recently ordered me the Cefaly device. It’s kind of like a Tens unit for your head. It can be used as preventative and abortive. I have found it to work better than any medication without all the awful side effects.

Might be worth asking your doc about!

Hope you have a good weekend

Thanks so much, MSdogmom If this med doesn't work, I will definitely talk to my neuro about it. My headaches all started about a year or so ago. I mentioned to my Neuro that it may be hormonal because of my age (just turned 40 last year) he said that it usually is. Hmmm. Maybe time to ask my family doc to check my hormone levels again. So frustrating.

Well, I am hoping it’s something as simple as that for you, too!

There is some science in figuring out what your trigger may be, too.

Perfumes, lights, sounds, foods, etc. there’s lots of good research into common triggers such as wine or chocolate!

Good luck with everything. :)
