Has anyone experienced this trigeminal neuralgia. It is very tough to go through without the proper medication.

I think we have members who may have information or experience concerning the gamma knife procedure and pain relief measures. I’m sorry for what you must be going through and hope you get relief very quickly.

Thank you so much and I just want to mention that the Baclofen and the heating pad helps out a lot.

That's good to hear. There are others who struggle with this, and that news will help them.

It is unbelievable how much the heating pad and Baclofen Works to mitigate the pain. At least for me anyhow. My neurologist says there's another type of medication as well that helps.

Mine was caused by a trapped nerve in my neck so I had a discetomy and now it’s ok. I remember the pain, I used to walk around with a heat pad on my face all the time, I even burnt my neck, but the pain of burning my neck was less than the trigeminal neuralgia. erash had the gamma knife, maybe she can help. Hope you get it sorted soon, Blessings Jimeka

Yes, I meant to mention Heat with my first post. I think it helps mitigate the pain

I am fortunate not to suffer from trigeminal neuralgia but I'm certain that we have several in the chat room who have it in some who even undergone the newer gamma knife operation to reduce the pain associated with it. Hopefully they will get back to you and be able to provide you with the information you seek. I just simply didn't want to ignore the whole post but I have no positive or negative input to give you. Just wish you good luck with your quest for inflammation. Fancy.

I have had TN trigeminal neuralgia x early 1990s. Tegretol helped but pain became more severe, more frequent bouts and longer duration. Had gamma knife surgery a few yrs ago. No TN x 2-3 years. No more tegretol but I keep a prescription in my cupboard for reassurance.

Yes, the pain is horrific. All other pain pales in comparison. I hope u can get relief 🌈

Thank you so much Fourier story about TN. Before taking the Baclofen, I wasn't able to talk at times. I hope you continue to feel better.

Did heat help you at all?

Sorry, there is no proper medicine. A lot of the antispasmodic medicines are great at first but will require increasing doses and frequency of taking them. Gradually you will move to stronger and stronger medicines.

Surgically there are some options, Gamma knife, Cyberknife ( which is laser surgery) and I believe there is a stent and decompression balloon.

Heating the area and cooling the area and there is a TN association that you can join. A lot of TN is trial and error to find something that works today.

I wish you the best of luck and suggest you start immediately developing a can-do attitude on this problem, you are going to need it.

21 years 3 laser surgeries on both sides and several overdoses, but still here.

Hi Rosey! I have a little discomfort from the TN this morning so far. Just have to anticipate the pain when I drink my coffee and eat.

It's surely okay, because I know it can always be worse. Thanks for caring, though.

At this time, I believe the baclofen is able to mitigate a lot of the pain.
