AAA showed a simple yet looked to be totally effective tip to help you open up Frozen car doors without pulling off your car door handle. All they suggested that you do was take a rag or piece of cloth about the size of a hand towel lay it over the top frame of your door. Letting half of it hang outside and half of it hang inside. Then if you run into an iced up car door and it will not open when you unlock it you can use both the handle and the towel to give you two points of Leverage to help open the door. They said that this wìll help to keep you from breaking your car door handles because not so much stress will be put on the Handle by itself. It made total sense and it's something easy to do. Try it and let me know if and how it helped everyone open up their Frozen car doors. Pass along any other simple tips you have to help with winter storm driving or helping with your car or home to prevent damage from the storm! I look forward to learning a bunch from everyone so start sharing your ideas no matter how small! Fancy.

Here are 6 tips
1 Another way to keep your car door from sticking is to spray wd40 around the rubber of the door
2 To keep the locks on your car door from sticking and freezing wd40. That was the thing before remotes
3 To help with your car front window when it snow take a plastic bag or cloth or something that will cover the window and spread it over the window and tuck the ends into the door and you won’t have to scrap the window
4 to keep your windshield wipers from sticking lift them up during a snow storm
5 if you get stuck in the snow you can use cat litter around the tires so they can get traction or put you floor mat down
6 bag of cat litter in the truck helps give weight to the car so it doesn’t spin out of control on the black ice.
😎👍
Fancy, I just use this blow torch thing I start my camp fires with. A benzo-matic...
Just kidding. Never pulled of a door handle yet. Always kept those little door lock anti-freeze things in all my outdoor wear, till keyless entries became a thing. How do you get the frozen towel off your door to drive? You just drive with it still on... A blonde.... Just kidding! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! My mother was a blonde! P.S., a crowbar would be more my style!
One more tip for frozen car doors. Hook a hair drier up to a very long outdoor extension cord then blow the hot air all along the edges of the door.
Also works for frozen diesel fuel. Just blow the hot air directly into the gas tank. A mechanic did that to my husband's car one winter. Vicenza Italy suffered a severe cold snap people weren't used to. His car wouldn't start and when I told my husband that the fuel was frozen he called me crazy, imbecile, and a few other more colorful names. Fuel doesn't freeze, he claimed. I'm originally from Michigan people used and still use heat blocks under their cars to keep fuel from freezing. When the mechanic showed up and told my husband that his fuel was frozen I laughed so hard I was doubled over laughing so hard I could barely breath. Who's the imbicil now? Should've seen my husband's face when the mechanic pulled out a hair drier and started blowing the air directly into the tank just like I had suggested before he showed up. I laughed some more!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Mechanic didn't understand what I thought was so funny my hubby sure did though and did not appreciate my rubbing it in.😁😎😁
I have had to heat my key up to get in the car door.Hair dryers are good too.
If you do not have these things handy, stick your tongue on the lock and wait for the ice to melt. It's a bit of a commitment...
In the winter I put heet in the gas tank it keeps the gas from freezing.
Another good one I learned in college (when the hair dryer and several pots of hot water from my coffee maker didn’t work) is to buy a block of wax (from a craft or fabric store) and rub it on the inside of the door (where the door meets the frame). It creates a barrier to keep the door from freezing (or refreezing). I made sure to keep one in my car winter kit and never had a problem again.
