Part 5 "THE MENTAL GAME"

Yes, this is very important. There is a mental game in this illness, and it is very important.

When "YOU" were first Diagnosed (DXed) if "YOU were anything like me, "YOU" had thought your world had collapsed. Questions ran through your mind constantly. Why, how, what do I do, I am scared. believe me, these are all pretty natural. We have been, were, thrown upside down. Given a life sentence with a slim possibility of parole. I will not tell "YOU " to ignore it, for it is your fear.

I will say, cry your tears as much as "YOU" need to then stand tall shoulders back and toughen up. How? Understand that this is maybe, the most challenging part of your journey. It really does get easier. Certainly not a stroll in the park, but as "YOU" progress with the illness "YOU" will learn what can be done. What shouldn't be done and what "YOU" are capable of. At times "YOU" will amaze yourself. Having Relapsing-Remitting ms (RRms) today does not mean that you will be bedridden or any such. Today there are Disease Modifying Therapies (DMT) to slow the progression of your illness. There are websites that can help "YOU" with diet exercise and the like.

The new ms beginning is challenging, but "YOU" need to start putting some strength and resilience into yourself. Learn to meditate, enjoy all that life has to offer. For "YOU" in 2018 there is so much for a Relapsing-Remitting mser. Look online, the ms gym, Dr Mosley on YOUTube.com come to mind. Somebody, please correct me as I feel I got the good doctors name wrong. There are charlatans as well so be careful. Bee stings killed a lot of bees but I am pretty sure cured nobody with ms.

I like to ask, why if they are selling me a cure, have I not seen this everywhere. What proof have they got, and testimonials are really not worth the paper they are written on. Be very careful, "YOU" are vulnerable, do not let yourself become a victim.

Find beauty, tales of strength and armour yourself against the future. ms is quite diabolical and sneaky. The better "you prepare yourself, the better "YOU" will cope with what it throws at "YOU in the future. Find every positive thing that "YOU" can and make it a part of "YOU

I was told a long time back "you can't ask why? unless you ask why not". I don't remember who said that to me it has just always stuck. Good morning Mary

Very well said. Attitude is 70% of your battle. I have tried to keep doing what I was doing before my notice of MS. Had my diagnosis late in life (65) who knows how long I have had symptoms. Was tested 30 years ago for. Numbness in left arm and hand . Issue went away no MRI thought at that time was how I placed my arm while driving . I am still working full time will see how long that will last. I don’t have a problem telling people I have MS. For me it is an explanation of why I do what I do. Do use a cane when not at home when walking the neighborhood I use a walking stick that I picked up in Gatlinburg. Have had to make some changes don’t do ladders or get on roofs anymore. Try to ignore that anything has changed That’s how I keep moving forward. Try to stay normal as possible
