I'm not sure where you are in the fight, but I hope you have a lawyer who specializes in that to help navigate the way. I'm sorry that people who truly have disabilities have to work so hard at something when they are already exhausted.

Let us know how you're getting along in the battle.

Hello and welcome Jj2010 from Fancy1959 to this awesome chat room. I don't believe I've spoken to you before but with all the influx of new members if I have please excuse my forgetfulness. You've come to the right place to ask questions and feel safe to voice concerns, and did you speak to others who truly understand what you were going through. Speaking of understanding, I too had to go through the Social Security circus that you are currently going through. I called her the circus for good reason, it's hysterical all the different jumps and stupid interviews they make you go through. I had done all the right things. I did the disability testing and my hands showed that my dexterity in my fingers were less than 20% of what they should be for women my age. That I had brain fog and it took longer for me to do basic functions without forgetting some things I learned in grade school. My endurance levels were down to less than 20% of what they were when I held down a full-time job. I had such bad Bladder incontinence issues, it was a hurdle that would be terribly hard to overcome and hold down a job. And I had terrible mobility issues to boot.

The actual first time I went into the Social Security office to do a face to face interview I went through the series of probably 30 to 40 questions and did about a 30 plus Minutes interview with the lady there. When she finished, she thanked not me for doing the interview but she thanked a lady named Susan Smith for doing the interview. I looked at her and said that's not me, I'm Not Susan Smith and I gave her my actual name. She started shuffling through her paperwork and about a minute or so later she looked up and says to me, oh well it doesn't matter because the questions are basically the same for everyone so these will work just fine for you too! I was flabbergasted! I was totally ticked off because you can't tell me that everyone in this chat room knows different people have different disability symptoms and ranges that affect them andu takes them out of the workforce because there are no longer able to do the basic necessities that a job would require.

So as I have learned through my actual experience we prepared to be turned down a second time sometime down the road. To do so, file an appeal promptly or you will not be granted the second hearing. You will go through something similar like the first hearing but it will probably be a little bit more in-depth. Again they'll find a reason to turn you down and write you a letter stating so. Again file your appeal promptly.

Your your third hearing which will actually be monitored by a judge. Now it's time to hire an attorney because your chances of getting approved with an attorney attorney by your side go up dramatically when you go in front of the judge. Yes, that's right, we get to spend more money we don't have hiring an attorney to play the games we need to play when most of us could just as adequately represent ourselves in front of the judge. When you request your hearing in front of a judge you need to make sure you check and let it be known that you want your hearing presided in front of an actual judge not via video conference. The percentage rate of getting turned down is much higher for those who use the video conference.

The attorney will probably require that you come in for one to two pre-hearing prep interviews we will talk to you about your disability and your answers Etc. Then he will also tell you how he wants you to dress for the hearing. I had blue jeans on just a nice little talk with it and he told me I was dressed way too nice. He wanted me to dress down as much as I could without being dirty exedra. Then if you have a walker use it and if you don't have a walker borrow one for the hearing. You'll find out the same day as the hearing in front of the judge if you get this ability or not. What the blank blank judge did to me was approved my disability but he pushed the start date back another 9 months. I'm not sure why but at this point now I was waiting for disability for close to two years. What I needed was actually Medicaid as much as my disability income because I had several issues I needed to tend to from my MS and my problems directly related to it.

So, you probably get to look forward to a he** something similar to what I've just described. Good luck and God bless you and may your Social Security disability saga go much smoother than mine did! Please let me know how yours goes. Take care until we speak again and remember together we are stronger! Fancy.

I was denied 3 times then had to use a lawyer! I guess they thought I was too young (31) & it’ll probably get better 😕 the MSAA has resources that helped me. Give them a shot.

It’s nothing unusual. Just keep fighting. Go ahead and hire a good lawyer. It cost nothing up front. They take a percentage after the case is awarded. It’s worth every dime and they normally have a limit on what they can charge you.
