Received a call this morning that the neuro I was supposed to see on July 5th is no longer there...not sure what happened so now I have an appt with a different neuro on July 11th. Hope this one doesn't leave too before I have my appt. The neuro I was supposed to see had been there for quite awhile so not sure what happened. So frustrating!

Yes, I agree with your frustration. I sure had a lot of it when I first started trying to find a neuro "right" for me. Unless you are limited by insurance, I would suggest picking a few and research their credentials and any research, or publications they have been involved in. I had to wait about the same time for my very first neuro, and we were very disappointed. Don't be afraid to take your journal, a list of your questions and a spouse or good friend to help you remember the doc's responses. If you are limited by insurance, ask them the names of MS specialists you have access to see. Then follow the above. Check them out and YOU pick the one you want to see. Best to you!
Thanks, CalfeeChick I have Medicare so I am limited to who I can see and of course it seems that not a lot of Neuros actually see MS patients because the first neuro that I liked and wanted to see would not take me as a patient because she didn't see MS patients. If it isn't one thing, its something else sometimes.
Oh dear Bxrmom, i haven't found a new doc yet either..Finally you get all the comfort and info down and woosh...you get someone who can grow facehair....!Calfee has some great info...best wishes and no shakeups!
I didn't even get to see that new neuro yet either which is frustrating!
Just not the neuro for you, I hope the one you are to see will be an MS specialist that is good and really is a specialist. Keep us posted and will keep you in my thoughts. ~terry
Thanks, Terry. I hope this guy is better than the current guy I have and I'm glad the appt isn't too far off from what my appt was going to be just so frustrating that for whatever reason the doc is gone and I don't seem them on the Medicare site yet either. So hopefully they will be listed as approved by the time my appt is here.

I do wish you the best of luck. Sometimes that seems to be how things work, by luck, or the draw of the cards. It can be very frustrating. My first couple of neuros did not work out for me. They did their best but just not good for me. Try to stay calm and trust good will come your way. Know you are awesome! and deserve the best ~terry
I like you Terry you have a positive attitude which is contagious. Thank you I'm having a really sucky day with spasms add on being alone so yep it is a crappy day but tomorrow will be better. So again I thank you for being my boost of positivity.
Have a great day Terry and thank you for being YOU!
wow such awesome words from an awesome person. I too am alone outside of this group so I understand what that means. We are alone together. Think tomorrow could be better always helps me through my tough times. Even if tomorrow is worse, eventually A tomorrow will be better. My day today is not so good either. However, the sun is shining and I'm a smilin'. Thank you for your meaningful post ~terry
No referral?
I had a referral for the first Neuro I was going to see but then it turned out that doc didn't see MS patients so they just scheduled me with the neuro I was supposed to see that just got rescheduled. And now that, that doc left they just scheduled me with a different doc in the office. Nothing was said about a referral needed.
Oh dear, my heart goes out..I feel anxiety you must too....lasagna is my comfort food..at least there is a doc.....to start with...maybe more answers with a new doc..?
Good grief. That is frustrating. Hopefully, you are being guided to somebody you will ultimately like better. All I have is regular Medicare but, so far, that hasn't hurt my ability to see any doctors. Crazy how it's so different everywhere. I see a specialist in August and, interestingly, Medicare is the ONLY thing she will file. Everybody else has to pay and try to get reimbursed by their carriers. Consider it just another detour on this sometimes not very enjoyable journey.
Thanks, Tinker-Belle ! I'm hoping it's for the best. We don't have many doctors here to choose from so when they say one has left and you have to see a different one, it's frustrating. Hopefully, it's because someone is looking out and it's for the best. Time will tell. Will keep everyone updated.

Just go along and hope and pray that this new doctor will turn out to be the best. Keep smiling and be positive. Blessings Jimeka π¦ π« π€
I really think the Lord puts roadblocks in front of us if it's bad for us. it's up to us to decide how many roadblocks we try to get around before we go a different direction. my 1st neurologist was terrible, the first words out of his mouth to me on the 1st visit was "I don't do disability" so if you are after a disability check you are in the wrong place, and I was! I found a wonderful dr. ,hang in there! Have Hope! Pam
bxrmom , I am so sorry that happened to you. It really sucks. Neuros that specialize in MS are so hard to find....Mine is 2 hours away. And with Medicare, their visits are time-restricted so they're backing out of the room almost the minute they walk in. I hope you like the person with whom you are scheduled, but CalfeeChick is right. Do your homework before you go. And if you're not comfortable, don't be afraid to get your back up and say no.
Saw my Chiro today for 2-week adjustment and I was telling him what happened with my Neuro ongoing drama and he said as many of you had said, that it probably happened for a reason and it is probably good that it happened now instead of after becoming a patient of hers which I agree. When I brought up that this new Neuro that I was going to be seeing was not even on the website or on the Medicare-approved list of doctors he said that they would not have been able to make the appt if he was not Medicare approved. So there lies another silver lining He could feel the stress/tension in my neck from yesterday. But after talking to you all and after talking to him I feel more at ease.
Thanks, everyone for listening! It is greatly appreciated!
Ahhhh! That's scary!! I hope that there's a silver lining and you are connected with a great care team.
How frustrating bxrmom ! I hope the neuro you do see is an MS specialist that will be knowledgeable and someone you can work with.
