Switched DMD fron Avonex to Extavia. Overall tolerating change pretty well. The biggest side effect is injection site turns vivid red, no heat, no itching, no swelling. Is this a normal side effect?

Hi msinca07 how are you?😊
I have never heard of extavia so had to look it up😀 Learn something new everyday.😊 Looks like a shot, with auto injector?😐 I take mine 3xs a wk. And will get red sometimes with the Copaxon. I just alternate between the hit and cold packs for a bit longer.😊
I'm NOT a Dr through! So please, if you think it's really bad. Call your Neuro. 💕

Thanks Jes. I hadn't thought about using hot and cold on sites. Other than looking odd from all the red spots they don't bother me. I do rotate my sites.
msinca07 when I did the Copaxone injections I used the gel packs that Shared Solutions would send out and they really helped. So ice packs could really help you out. Best of luck to you.
Jessie
@msinca07 When I was on Copaxone I would use a hot pack on the area before injecting, then massage the area, then use an ice pack. I only had to do it on my arms because they were the worst.
My abdomen and thighs are the worst so I will give this a try.
@msinca07 My thighs were bad also but I had enough fat on my abdomen that they didn't bother me there. My arms are so skinny that there is no fat and they were on a 4 for the injections and they still left big red marks and then would bruise. They started leaving knots also. But the hot and cold packs did help.
