It seems like my body and mind works for separate teams. I want to do needed chores around the house but I feel overwhelmed.

Oh so true raspberrybird50
Sometimes my body goes on strike and refuses to listen to my brain π
raspberrybird50 , most of us probably know what you mean but I am sorry you feel so overwhelmed. Try to do something calming because stressing usually can make things worse especially for those with MS.
Take care new friend.
Oh raspberrybird50 (I love that name π) I do understand that feeling! And with a touch of OCD, it's a bigger challenge.π π I found that I have more energy in the morning, and try to get things done then. Not that it always gets done. But I try.
Sometimes, you have to give yourself a breakπ
Welcome to the Family.π Please jump in anytime!π

raspberrybird50 , Cut yourself some slack. Not only do I have MS, but I'm getting older. Chores that used to take a day to do, now take me a week. And you know what? I haven't been fired yet!
raspberrybird50 , you've said it beautifully! I think nearly all of us feel that way. I do hope you have some supportive family and friends who can take some of the pressure off of you. I still want to do it all, and though I'm only fooling myself that I ever actually did, I'm learning to say more things like, "I'd like to. Thanks for asking. But no."
I agree with everyone who advised you to cut yourself some slack. As SueAB suggested, you probably won't get fired! Hang in there. You can vent here any time.
raspberrybird50 I use what I have deemed the "Rule of One". I break a chore into small parts and try to accomplish just one part. If I have more energy, I'll tackle the next part. It makes me feel like I've accomplished something.
Make a list and then just try one at a time and scratch it off when completed. I donβt prioritize, I just do them as I can. Iβm always adding to the list or I forget about it π€
Welcome @raspberrybird50 , what you described is me all over, I make a list, feel good if I check off one or two things, I get distracted easily because there is so much to do and nowhere near enough energy. ππππ
I completely understand. Once I do get started I get tired out before I get done with what I was trying to accomplish.
I have learned to turn my head to somethings. It will be there tomorrow
Best of luck!
Lots of good advice here for all of us. I am so often feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes I enlist my husband to help with a project or hire some help for a few hours for a little catch up. Try not to be hard on yourself. I have also been downsizing things that take too much maintenance. Not the pets, of course, but the potted plants. Wishing you all the best. Linda
I like to take a page from my mom's book. She is almost 80. She says I try to do one thing a day and if I can do that I am doing fine. So it may not be all the laundry but one load counts.
I feel the same way!! My mind says to do the chores while my body says no way. I pray a LOT and allow my body to rest!!! It's NOT lazy to rest you need rest with MS!!! You can actually push yourself into a relapse and it feels horrible!!! I do what I can handle and the rest waits or other people help. Don't overdo your body or you will feel worse. It may take days of rest. I can't go like I used to go!!! Please don't feel bad!!
