Dr's nurse called this morning and I have an appointment with a Neuro Surgeon on November14th! Now that I have the name and number of the surgeon, I will call tomorrow or Friday to see if they have any cancellations sooner that that.
My boyfriend and I have been hoping to go visit family early next month, so I don't know if that will happen or not.
I received my test results this morning from the hospital and below you can see what they say (I have had back problems on/off since I was in college in WI. Have only lived in MI for the last 4 years:
FINDINGS:
The last rib bearing vertebral body is labeled as T12. Therefore, there is transitional lumbosacral anatomy with lumbarization of S1 vertebral body.
The visualized distal spinal cord demonstrates normal caliber and signal.
The normal appearing conus medullaris is located at mid L2 level.
The alignment and vertebral body heights are preserved. Modic endplate changes are noted at L5‐S1, eccentric to the right. Otherwise, there
is no suspicious bone marrow replacing osseous lesion.
There is no significant spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis within the visualized lower thoracic spine.
L1‐L2: No significant spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis.
L2‐L3: Mild facet arthropathy without significant spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis.
L3‐L4: Mild facet arthropathy without significant spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis.
L4‐L5: Minor disc bulge slightly flattening the ventral thecal sac as well as mild‐to‐moderate facet arthropathy. There is no significant neuroforaminal stenosis.
L5‐S1: Moderate intervertebral disc space narrowing/desiccation with mild disc bulge and large central/left paracentral inferior disc extrusion as well as moderate bilateral facet arthropathy. These changes result in severe spinal canal stenosis and compression of the thecal sac, bilateral lateral recess stenosis (severe on the right) compressing the descending S1 nerve roots as well as mild right neural foraminal stenosis.
S1‐S2: No significant spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis.
The paraspinal and paravertebral soft tissues are within normal limits.
There is cholelithiasis.
