Thank you for your words of encouragement Jesmcd2 and erash ! I used to put books out where I used to work and found them gone and replaced by others people had left. Time to paint some rocks and put positive words on them!

Wow Jeannie I wish we were close. The elderly lady we bought our house from was the biggest rock lover I have ever. I have rocks in every room. We have porches front rear and side and all the rail are covered in rocks, we have a large ROCK garden in the front yard. I have more rocks than we all could use and everybody is welcome to all that want. Lol. You could make entire cities and counties happy with all my rocks. Lol.

I must admit I do love rocks, (and rock n roll-haha) but I never seem to find any even when I tried to find some when I was giving my parents "Pet Rocks" for Christmas when I was (cough-cough) young-er. Sad to say I still haven't been able to find any so my next visit will be to an arts and craft store with my daughter.

We just moved into a new neighborhood.There are piles of rocks and boulders everywhere. We put a few in our front planting bed.

When I was still working, before monster, I worked with drug addicts. This was one of the projects we did, painting goals they had for their lives on rocks and placing them in a rock garden outside. They loved seeing "their" rock everyday. When they finished treatment they took it home. Great idea you have. Something along those lines I do, not my idea I read it in a book. I leave a dollar or two at bus stops, under windshield wipers, just different places where I know they will be found. It is fun to think about someone finding them. Love to all, Kelly

Kelly you are an angel! I like having others paint their own rocks and decorate them to show their achievements!

When my daughter was a baby and I ran out of money to get her formula and diapers someone sent me a store card to get these things. No one in the store would tell me who sent the card. Since then I decided to do the same for those who need help. It really is a good feeling knowing I can help others and I'm happy to know you and others do the same.

Our local elementary schools do something similar. The kids paint the rocks bright colors with various designs and place them in the flower beds along the walkways outside of the schools. So simple, but so impactful. Great rainy day project for at home too.

I don't quite follow the anonymity part that you and Jesmcd2 spoke of ("I have heard stories on the news where ppl have found them.😊 Then they put them for someone else to find."). Do you leave them on people's doorsteps? Please elaborate for those of us who don't know! Thanks!

There are 2 neighbors I'm thinking of leaving the painted rocks for. One is living in the house of a childhood friend (she was an elderly woman), now there's a mean man who lives there. Something tells me he's just lonely and doesn't know how angry he appears. The other is a man who just lost his wife and needs friends since family no longer visits him.
