After the phlox cuts back on its blooming this soft as rabbits fur, gray blue beauty fills out under the trees. It is some type of Worm Wood plant that my neighbor shared with me.

Those free/shared cuttings/plant starts are the best!

Your garden is immaculate! Not a single weed!!!

Thanks WAshingtongirl and Iona60 ! I miss the gardening, somewhat but I hate not being able to keep it as nice as I have in the past. I would rather cut back the size and try keeping it nice.

I understand exactly what you are saying, Morllyn . When I first told my husband how hard it was to keep up with the weeding, trimming, then dividing of plants, he said we could hire someone to do it. I knew we could never afford to pay someone to do what I did and how I did it. I'm a little bit of a control freak and perfectionist. 😉 My husband would have been shocked at how much it would have cost to have someone Maintain the garden and the yard.

You are so right. When I was in the hospital, in 2014, for almost 3 weeks, my husband learned how much it took to keep it looking that good. Afterwards the garden was overgrown with weeds and dead plants, and the doctor would not let me back in the garden for another month while I did twice daily IV antibiotics at home. It looked awful! He admitted that he hadn't realized how much it took for it to be kept as nice as I kept it. I am a bit of a control freak also. He always tilled, raked, and shoveled in the garden, and helped planting seeds. I watered, weeded, and harvested, unless I felt to bad. And I love cutting grass.

It reminds me of the beautiful artimesia mounds I had in Illinois which I grew around clematis. It's a bit more of a challenge to grow certain things here where it's drier and with red clay soil. Your gardens are pieces of paradise.

We started out with red clay also. Years of adding compost, Starbucks coffee grounds and our garden and kitchen compost, it got much better.
