Hi im 17 years old and im scared of getting MS. I know this community has a bunch of people who have Ms and if i affend anyone by writing this im truly sorry. For the past week i have been feeling a almosg tingly and some what weakness in my hands or legs but its not week. Yesterday i went to the gym and was able to lift heavier then my usual days. But tonight i just feel weird my right hand feels tingly and just weak but its not weak i dont know hard to explain. my right calf feels weird like a crampy type feeling. And im just truly scared its MS. I know on the bright side there have been alot of people who still live there dily life and do there daily activites with it but im just scared. I have went to the doctor for other reasons a few days ago not for this. Got a blood work done and all my levels were in perfect range. Does this sound anything like ms? Can this be anxiety and my body being anxious because im scared i might have been this.?

Scared.
It's ok to be scared but have faith and stay positive.
Brandolo119, Many people have not even heard of MS and I wonder what made you think of this disease and how did you find our chat room? Do you have a family member with MS? I would suggest that you not make yourself miserable by trying to diagnose yourself. My husband does not have MS and he can tell when he needs a chiropractic adjustment when his leg feels weak and tingles. I am certainly not a doctor, but it is just a thought.
Brandolo119 I know this must be scary for you. Keep track of your symptoms and how long they last. MS mimics many other problems and doesn't usually show up in bloodwork. If your symptoms don't go away, go back to your doctor. If he suspects MS, he'll send you to a neurologist.
Maybe it's nothing and just related to your weight-lifing routine.
@Brandolo119, I'm another one wondering what made you think of MS and how you found this place. When I was your age I'd never heard of MS. Times have changed, and MS is better known now but even so it's highly unlikely that you have MS based on what you say. The previous poster here has given you good advice, I think: go to your doctor and maybe you can find out if you need to see a neurologist. Yes, your symptoms can be due to anxiety. If you're anxious enough about MS, for instance, you just might develop some of the symptoms.
Brandolo119...First, I can't imagine anyone being offended by you writing here. If you are scared and you have questions about MS, then this is a good place to be. That said, please don't talk yourself into having MS and suffer with symptoms that may or may not be something serious. If the things you have been experiencing don't go away on their own, or occur frequently, then you need to see your doctor. Your family doctor will let you know if you need to see a neurologist, and will help you set up an appointment. In the mean time, you might ease up a little bit on the weight lifting for a little while and see if that helps. You didn't mention your parents/family. If you are living at home could you talk to your parents about this and let them know of your fears? Take special care and try to find things to do that will take your mind off of this for a while and see if that helps. I wish you the very best!!
Hi Brandolo119
Unfortunately MS symptoms are often vague and mimic many other conditions.
Normal blood work is good but doubtful they tested for all possible causes of your symptoms
Since you've only had symptoms for @ a wk and they're transient throughout the day, it's likely more difficult to pin them on any one condition
Curious why u r thinking ms? Family, friends, Google suggesting?
In response to your ?
Yes, anxiety can cause all sorts Of body symptoms and stress, anxiety can make many underlying conditions worse
If your symptoms persist or worsen, def. follow up with your doc
Please continue to seek support and comfort here if concerned π
Probably not ms and if it is, (really unlikely I would think) it is wayyyy far from the curse it used to be. Go visit your GP\PCP and perhaps u may go c a neurologist. Either way chin up mate, early days yet u may have just twisted wrong at the gym, I do all the time
Have a nice day
Royce
Hi Brandolo119 and welcome to our forum. I think we all get scared and nervous at some point. Especially when we don't feel well.
I would think that MS is nowhere on your radar at this point tho. IF your that concerned about it, most definitely call your PCP about it, and see what he says.
Do you have a family history of MS?
Jesπ
ps. Maybe go lighter on the weight lifting for a bit?
Brandolo119 , I agree; don't borrow trouble and get thee to a neurologist right away. Your symptoms could be caused by many things or nothing more than anxiety, not that anxiety isn't powerful.
Just food for thought...
As I am 36 and have not been diagnosed with anything yet (it's been 5 years) with off and on again symptoms. It took me 4 years to get an MRI and to see a neurologist.
I have bulging discs in my cervical spin and lumbar spin, which push on my spinal cord and cause numbness and burning. My Neuro detected 3 lesions (one on my brain) but that doesn't mean I have MS. Along with that I have Spontaneous nystagmus.
It is a long and winding road with ups and downs. I don't want MS and I know all the people here don't/ didn't want the diagnosis of MS either.
My words to you are see your family doctor and exercise.
Breath, relax, and let your doctor do his job. MS is difficult to diagnose...you are young. MS also mimics other possible more reasonable diagnosis.
Much luck to you and we are here if you need to vent even if you don't have MS....you can still be here.
Stephanie
scared go see your doctor get checked out it may be nothing or something don't create something out of what may be nothing
Brandolo119, it's Fancy1959 I would like to officially welcome you to the wonderful chat room. I am not a doctor and I hesitate to give you advice but if I was in your shoes I would immediately get back in to see my primary care physician. I would explain about my symptoms and my anxiety concerning them. I would ask them to do testing and if they feel as if they want a neurologist involved in the testing get them to refer you to a good neurologist they know of.
The stress your symptoms are causing you is not healthy for you no matter what is affecting your body. It is not always easy or quick to get into a good neurologist so proceed with this as soon as you can. Please keep us informed of what is happening. As soon as you posted a question to this chat room chat room you became a part of our extended family. We care and we are here to help, just simply post us.
