Long term disability
30-45 days, but that's after a doctor verify you're disable and that it's long term. Get a lawyer. MS Society can refer you to a lawyer for this issue. Good luck.
My LTD says 30days after disability. I'm about to find out...
I have Primary Progressive MS. I had a long term disability insurance policy for many years prior to being diagnosed with MS. I could not perform my job anymore as my career required me to be physically capable. I applied for benefits with the insurance carrier. After ninety days, the insurance company approved my benefit. They started paying a monthly check that was substantial. A few months went by and the insurance company hired a private company to obtain social security disability on their dime. Six months later, I was approved and now I receive both a check from the insurance company and social security disability.
The answer to your question would be if you if you can no longer perform your job due to your physical limitations, you should be able to obtain your long term benefit and SSD. Hope this helps?
I had STD and LTD thru my work, but I paid extra to have the additional coverage. Fortunately I had some benefit time built up that held me over until they "evaluated" the paperwork from my doctor. Then I was required to apply for Social Security Disability before they would pay me. Which is stressful, but is OK once I accepted needing to be on it. Then they pay me the difference between what I receive from Soc. Sec. and the percentage of my working income I would have received. I was 58 at the time and have been receiving for two years. I should receive until I'm 65. I did not have a lawyer and my employer didn't give me any info about the process either. They review doctor office visits each time I go. Not going to say they are nice to me, but I receive a check every month. Hope this helps some.
My problem is I work for the state and social security is not taken out, not good. And my retirement is under 300 so I do need this long term disability . I just want this to be done with, if you know what I mean.
Thank you for your support
